Borderlands

it came out on tuesday.......with no heads up...I got it....havent played it yet

I just started playing this game and am loving it :)

Are any of the DLC's worth it?

All of them are minus madd moxxi some will most liky say. But you should still get that for the bank for the guns you'll likly get before hand and can't part with and the extra skill trees. Other then that the rest are all worth the getting. Hope that helps.

I just started playing Borderlands this weekend myself (bought it for 1/2-off on Steam). I like it. I started with Brick but I'm thinking of switching to another character. I've found that I vastly prefer distance killing to running around and meleeing frantically while my shotguns and rocket launchers take for-bloody-ever to fire and reload. The Soldier would've been my first choice, but a friend told me his special skill is utterly useless in single-player, which is how I'm playing the majority of the time.

I doubt I'll bother with the DLC, personally. $10 a pop per DLC pack seems like a bit much.

Your friend is very wrong I'm afraid corp. Roland is the character most people play as. As was shown in the last quick look on giant bomb general knoxxs.

the seconds are both the siren lileth and the the hunter morty.

here you go. http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-the-secret-armory-of-general-knoxx/17-2095/

they mention in here while they play this.

it may be a person bias perference thing with your buddy though.

but I'd take what he says with a grain of salt from now on when it comes to this game. and may be a few other things game wise. depnds I guess. but I'd just look into stuff more.

Your firend lied to you. His skill kicks ass. I leveled that sucker up to the point where I would just stand there, and the turrent killed everyone.

also corp the point of thei game is finding better guns then you have . the ones that are as good you sell for money just keep that in mind the game is about weapons farming. in like searching for better weapons.

Oh, he said it replenished the whole team's ammo and health, so it was mostly for like team-buffing. I'm definitely gonna try Roland out now. I got to like level 13 with Brick, but that's not super-high, so I don't mind restarting.

I know the game is about searching for better weapons, and I have a decent shotgun and rocket launcher; it's just that I prefer the luxury of distance killing as opposed to having everything be right up in my face and frantic. I might actually go for Mordecai, since I've been having fun with sniper rifles lately, in fact.

As for the DLC you can always wait til what they did with Fall out 3 and get the Expansion pack but I'm sure they'll lower the price as time goes on. so I'd keep looking for the price drops only those as well. or just wait for an expansion pack.

Let's hope the put out an expnasion pack. other wait for the price to go down if they don't.

I never bothered leveling up the team build since I don't have xbox live. I just leveled up ammount of times the gun fires and damage.

Mordecai is
definitely
fun to play as I think there was a
guide
for him on giant bomb as well so I'd look that up. let me know if you want the link to that?

oh sorry for the double post. I was in edit and it ended up that way. ughhhh

Corp, the character you choose doesn't dictate which weapons you can use. The small bonus each character gets is pretty negligable in my opinion. I play as Lillith and I use every weapon type pretty effectively.

I figured, given that I'm sniping pretty effectively with probably the least sniper-suited character in the game right now. I want to try out all the skills, though. Brick's Berserker has become old hat pretty quickly.

Brought a Roland up to lvl 18 last night. The turret is friggin' awesome, I don't know what my friend was talking about. I got this assault rifle that does 80 damage. Only 6 rounds per clip, which I thought would suck, but it turns out it kills most enemies around my level in like 3 or 4 shots, so its clip size doesn't matter. I'm working on getting the magazine size upgrade in my skill tree, too.

Add some combustion skill to that turret and watch what happens. Bring marshmallows.

I've got a fire bolt element on it right now. It's absolutely wonderful against skaggs. I also got a shock element, but shock seems to suck, as far as I can tell. Shields seem to drop pretty quickly regardless of what kind of damage my guns are doing.

I was enjoying this abit more since they sorted the multiplayer out and re-classed as a siren. Got up to level 30 before repetition gave in, don't wish to continue any further, maybe at a later date when boredom kicks in. I think the skills are far too streamlined and not as useful as they should be, very rarely are they used by other players and even when they are it tends to be farting around with lower levels. Although the game has a nice art style, the environments have a empty lifeless samey-samey feeling. The pulp-comic book style alone doesn't give the game enough character. Cardboard NPC's and dead eye'd characters during the brief cut-scenes. Compare it with Leftdead or Team Fortress 2, the games personalty is much better conveyed in those games, as are the class relationships. The main thing that was annoying was the lack of any need/greed system like World Of Warcraft, unless I missed something the game seems to operate on "he who gets to chest first" which I don't really ilke personally. There doesn't seem to be any server options either, lots of extremely high level players dropping in and basically eliminating any challenge, I'm not sure you can even kick them. It seems like they laid it down but didn't pin it properly.

I agree with pretty much everything you mentioned there. The game definitely has a lot problems. A lot of problems. I still enjoyed my time with it though. All in all I feel like it was good first try at something new. Hopefully if they make a sequel they'll address most of these issues.

Despite being the starter of this thread, I never actually picked this game up. I finally did last night (traded in a lot of stuff to Gamestop to get a few new games).

I bought it for the PS3 and I am really enjoying it so far. I'm level 9 now. Finding loot is definitely addicting.

No doubt. The loot ****e aspect is definitely fun, but I got bored of the game right around when I hit level 20. Hopefully you can get more enjoyment out of it than I did.

Do you have to do much grinding in this? And if so, is it annoying?
