Dude. Don't get into this...they're waiting for new meat. :csad:

Yeah, but I actually read the issue, laughed out loud too. Maybe it was meant as a comedy?

Who did Jackpot end up being?

It's this whole story that seemed pretty weak but I'll break it down (stop reading if you don't want to be spoiled, oh wait no one cared to begin with that's right)...

It was going to be Sara Ehret but she chickened on registering out so her buddy Alana Jobson took some drugs, got some unknown powers and took her place, apparently Ehret has powers too. Alana got poisoned which mixed with the drugs she already had in her system caused her to OD and die. The End, unless Ehret takes up that mantle no one cared about to begin with and continue the legacy that the sentry created.... hey kids drugs can be a good thing! (on a side note, I didn't think blindside was bad villian)

Because Marvel is against tabacco, but pill popping is A-Ok with them.

Getting powers through drugs is good, mmmkay.

I agree except that I think Loki's dealings with the Skrulls will probably be covered in SI itself. Granted, there could've been at least an appearance by Loki in the tie-in, but it was pretty clearly a Beta Ray Bill/Thor story. Of course, that just makes your point about the unexplained Bill situation even worse. Yeah, this was pretty mediocre all around except for the art.

I thought some of the prose was pretty too, but the story seemed hobbled together in so many ways. The Super Skrull was a clever concept, but then they throw in the idea it's never seen humans (good training for an earth mission) and is all kill happy (unlike the rest of the SS which seem to be soldier types) and she somehow has genetic alterations which allow her to wield the hammer (WTF?). Thor never used the powers he has in any useful way. Loki made an appearence in the first issue to sew doubt then was never mentioned again. Now why would she do that? She doesn't want the skrulls to win, if anything loki would have used her superior shifting powers and magics to insure they weren't being infiltrated because it would be a blow to her pride to have someone else use her tricks to defeat asgard. Then after that unexplained behavior the second most powerful magic user there doesn't even bother to conjure up some earth trolls or something to help out. Better to have just never mentioned her then to put her out there as someone and then never mention her again. I kept thinking she was going to show up and poison the SS with magic or something, but the story was far to simple for that.

I agree the art was pretty.

It was definitely a missed opportunity with Loki. If you think about it, Loki helping out against the Skrulls would be just the sort of thing to strengthen his claim that he's reformed in the main series, too. But like I said, we're probably going to get something with him in the last issue of SI and probably throughout Dark Reign, if the covers are any indication.

P. Craig Russell?!? Doing anything?!? I must own this. :o

It's purty. I'm gonna start reading it at lunch in an hour. Meatball sub, green tea with honey, and Coraline with Russell's art. It's gonna be awesome.

Yep, it's Gaiman's way-too-creepy-for-children children's book. Although, with Russell's art, it might not be quite so freaky. Dave McKean drew the art in the novel version and I got a little scared.

Spider-Weed.

Now I'll try this one...

:yay:

You know, every year, even as my 41st birthday approaches, there's always some kind of spider that makes a web near the entrance of my back door, and when autumn kicks around, that sucker is HUGE... thanks largely in part to all those mosquitoes s/he eats during the summer months... and every time I go to the back door, and as I fumble in my pockets looking for my keys to get in, I always look at the spider and I always think to myself... "Man, wouldn't it be cool if I just let that guy bite me so I could get Spdier-Powers"... and then reality sets in and I realize that it'll just hurt like hell and I'll feel like an idiot for letting the spider bite me.

You never lose that nerdy edge as you get old... you just become "nerdier".

:csad: :csad: :csad:

Yep. Interesting indeed. :whatever::csad:

[BLACKOUT]Also, why emulate a supermodel to be a superhero? Yeah, you get good fashion sense...but it doesn't exactly scream 'hero'...[/BLACKOUT]

MJ is an actress. She's a fan of her show. This is where reading stuff would help you form a cohesive argument.

:whatever:

Stop trying to incite an argument!

'This is where reading stuff would help you form a cohesive argument'. What's your argument? She's a fan of her show.

Does it make the idea of Jackpot [a supposed MAJOR character in Nu-Spidey's life] actually a stalkerish 'fan' of Mary Jane any LESS stupid? No.

Read my above post you ignominious little ragamuffin.

You had a good point before about him not reading, but he has a point about why would you do that. It's just a stupid reason. "I'm going to be a superhero that emulates a supermodel" is something deserving of a WTF comment, and now you're just getting on his case for no reason other than to pile on, and what's worse you're doing it badly and looking like you can't read in the process.

Seriously? Better than "ragamuffin"? You just don't get that kind of class out of today's insults.

Amazing Spider-Man: Super Ultra Extreme Annual: PICK OF THE WEEK! This issue was hands down the best issue of SM ever, considering it turns out everything that has happened to Peter in the last five years was all one horrible dream. I also loved the hardcore sex scene between Peter and MJ toward the end. I can't believe they showed everything a Hustler would plus more!
