Bought/Thought 5/10--Spoilers to come!

Yeah, I get that feeling Brubaker is going to be the next Bendis. And it kind of figures that Uncanny will be the title that labels him as that....:(

that is the cost of success at Marvel they give you more work. I do see a Bendis type situation here as Bru has been good on street level heroes and is given a team to play with(Bendis struck gold with Ult. Spider-man and Daredevil but his Nu Avengers is appalling....same with Bru as his Cap and DD are getting rave reviews and (to me) DG was a lesson in stupidity(Can Scott legally kick Xavier out of his own home???).

I actually quite like x-men : dg.

heh.

X-Men: Deadly Genesis #6- I'm with you on that. It was an interesting story and I don't really care it was a retcon because it was done well. I don't care if the secrets were spilled early because the story was still a good story. I like Vulcan and I am very interested in Uncanny as Vulcan takes his revenge on Shiar. I expect an epic space battle and I hope it kicks ass. Also, Darwin is back, I thought that was awesome. 9/10

X-Men: The 198 #5- Meh. It was okay. I found Mr. M to be interesting but this series was kinda pointless. 5/10

New X-Men #26- Man, the guys writing this title are ruthless. Practically killing the main cast, this series has been brutal and cool. Puts the deaths in Infinite Crisis to shame. 9/10

52 #1- It was good. Just an introduction. I only hope it gets better. All the characters are pretty interesting and I just hope the story moves on. 9/10

Captain Atom: Armageddon #8- This series has been wavering between interesting and dull but this issue was cool. I'm very excited for this ending. I don't think it should of lasted 9 issues. 8/10

Battle for Bludhaven #3- Finally getting into this series. This issue was pretty good and entertaining. 8/10

Nightwing #120- Crap. Utter crap. I didn't even finish it because of being so bad. I liked Jason Todd as the Red Hood but in Nightwing, he's just stupid. I like the character Nightwing a lot but this is bad. 0/10

Superman #652- Good story. Definitely a good Superman story that I haven't read in a long time.

New X-Men 26 - Finally, an explanation on Stryker between now and GLMK2. Kind of a cop out explanation, but it's better than villains who reform and revert for no other clear reason than they can. Yup, looking at you, Sandman. Anyways, it looks like the New X-Men are being whittled down one by one in this new religious crusade. Just hope they didn't jump the shark with this one.

In Thing issue #6, it showed that the Wizard was the one behind Sandman reverting back to being a bad guy

Dread liked Mystery Men, now I KNOW he has good taste.
You bet I did. Its one of my favorite comic book films, a favorite of my collection.

I think Dread is an excellent reviewer, I haven't been reading DG, but trust in Dread's review enough not to bother.

I love Brubaker and read both his DD abd Captain America, but agree with another poster - not everything your favourite writer does will be great. So I won't be trying Uncanny unless I start to hear rave reviews. I can't imagine X-men being the right type of title for him.
Thanks. Naturally, because Brubaker is a successful writer, he will be given more work to do at Marvel, much as JMS and Bendis have. Unfortunately, as others have stated, not every writer can be as effective for every genre. Bendis does better at noir than superheroics, and Brubaker may be simular. To give him some credit, he at least managed to provide some decent dialogue and sequences here and there; DEADLY GENESIS was sort of a disaster, but it could have been worse. Had this story been done in, say, 1998, it would have been a LOT worse. Hanna's art was definately an improvement. But definately a major disappointment.

Brubaker, like Bendis, seems to be a bit...long winded. Even his Winter Soldier arc in CAPTAIN AMERICA took 12 issues to finish.

Deadly Genesis was a complete waste of time, useless retcons, failed on almost all levels.

Dread was entirely right, and you rock on brother, keepin' um honest. He's our Anderson Cooper. Only with a Jason Mask. And I don't think he looks as gay.
If you mean the avatar, technically it's of Casey Jones, so its a Casey Jones mask. Y'know, from TMNT?

Mystery Men kinda sucked.
Its nothing Oscar worthy, but remember it came out not long after X-MEN did. I found it humorous.

Myster Men was great up until the point where they raided the Rush's hideout. Then it just fell to pieces. Still, at this point in time, I wouldnt be opposed to a sequel.

Meh. Wasn't my kinda comedy. Started off good, I can admit that, but it fizzled fast.

Now for the rumor...Tim Burton was the director of that film. Look up the filmography of that director. He doesn't exist.

um...kinka usher directed mystery men...and yes, he does exist.

Deadly Genesis- I guess I'm pretty much of the opinion of everyone else, but I thought I'd talk about what I did like about it:

I liked the idea of revisiting Krakoa, and that their was another team involved. What I would've liked to see was some kind of explanation as to why Wovie, etc. were't the 1st choice, and why prof X thought they would fare any better. Similar to what a lot of people, including myself, say about BMB, I really liked the idea, but was less enthused about the execution.

I liked the short set-ups for each character at the end of each issue. Short and to the point.

I really liked the end, with Vulcan speeding off in space, with D'Ken on his mind. That scene does make me excited about the new Uncanny. I loved the space stuff, and can't wait to see what Bru does with it.

I don't really have a problem with Banshee, as I'm sure he'll be back. And I don't have a problem with Prof X being "kicked out" either. I hope he stays human for a while (5 or more years our time). I would like to see what kind of a role he would play in what's happening in Civil War, since he's always been a public figure(expert in genetics), and recently, a publicly known mutant.

Other than that, it was a story that I would've rather seen shoe-horned into one of the ongoing x-titles. I mean, why couldn't this story have been the first few issues of Bru's Uncanny?

No picture. Can't find one in a google search either.

first of all, lot's of people do not have pictures on imdb. secondly, he's in the movie! he's got a cameo as a guy named, "moe"...he also appears in another movie called, "hip, edgy, sexy, cool" that came out a few years ago. it's actually a pretty funny movie.

You could say that about a LOT of stories that are done in mini's. Its to have as many X-books on the racks as possible, despite the fact that Marvel at times pushes their own stuff out of notice. Plus, Claremont had a story to finish or something.

What's ironic is that Claremont made his own stab at the "3rd Brother" thing in X-MEN: THE END, and it seems obvious that Marvel didn't care one whit...yet feels no qualms about still publishing it, and selling it, to whoever's buying. Quite interesting.

I think a lot of people would be ticked if they put Bru on before Claremont can tell us how Psylocke came back to life.

Worst.
Resurrection.
Ever.

Yeah, Aunt May beats Psylocke's by a mile. Psylocke's wasn't bad, it just went too long without an explanation.

Actually, any resurrection is bad. They should have th' balls to back th' deaths up.
