Bought/Thought Feb 27th

i'm telling you there is one. he's a master of assuming the personalities of his disguises.

Maybe he's hiding out in Detective Comics, which is why Batman's actually, like, a detective in there.

Bought;
Captain America #36
MA Iron Man #10
X-Men Legacy #208
Proof #5
Kick-Ass #1
Thunderbolts - International Incident.

Well, I don't know what it was about this week...but I felt underwhelmed. Maybe I need to purchase different comics, but anyway, onward to the reviews.

Captain America
Brubaker seems to always make every issue of CA feel like a theatre experience. I don't how, but he just pulls it off. Seeing those panels with Bucky amongst the rioters was superb. There's so much energy in this book, that I never get tired of. So much suspense, action and drama. Can't get enough. It's amazing how this title continues so strongly without Steve Rogers.
8/10

MA Iron Man
The MA titles never fail to impress. Pepper Potts knocking the Chameleon unconscious whilst he pretends to be Spider-woman? So much fun, that MA Iron Man makes me feel like a kid again. I mentioned this to my other half, and she mentioned that I'd probably read these stories to my future children. Of course I will. Their bedtime stories would probably consist of my entire comic collection :o

X-men Legacy
One of my favourites really gave me a treat this week. JRjr on this book, and Kick-Ass? Lovely. Oh, and what better art than WWH it is. I'm sorry, but as I've said so many times before, I just don't feel like JRjr did that great a job on WWH. Did I enjoy this, though? Not at all. It was nice flashing back to Xavier talking to Scott, as he questioned whether or not Xavier is able to keep such powers at bay. JRjr's art was so pretty, that I remembered why I loved him again. But, Erik on the last page? Didn't do a single thing for me. Oy. :(

Proof #5
I missed the last issue of Proof when it came out, but at least I'm onto the series now. It's such a series, that I'm definitely on for the long haul. The art is sketchy, but that style works with the story. Those faeries are incredibly freaky, and well...pretty much everything else is, too. An investigation into slaughtered dinosaurs coming our way? Yes please.

Thunderbolts - International Incident
Eh. Not much to say here. I've never been too fond of the T-Bolts, but I thought I'd give it a try. International Incident just left me hanging.

Kick-Ass
I didn't buy this for Millar. I bought this for JRjr. This was probably what left me underwhelmed. Perhaps it was the hype, but I now find myself stuck with a pretty average story. I ain't liking the concept, but I'm loving Jrjr's pencils. I is stucks.

So, I don't know what it was...but unlike the week before, I wasn't jumping out of my seat in excitement. MA Iron Man, Proof and CA were great, but still...I felt a bit disconnected from my comics this week, and that concerns me :csad:

Yeah, Proof is excellent. I'm so glad that it's selling well enough to continue.

The ****ers at my shop keep forgetting to put in my box!!!!!!! :cmad: :cmad: I've missed the last couple of issues!

I'm busy with work and training during the week so sunday is my of day to go to comic shop. I picked up new Blue Beetle,She Hulk,Kick-Ass,Captain Marvel,Freddy vs Jason vs Ash.

So far i read BB and SH and really enjoyed both. BB is by far my favorite right now. I just wish more people would buy it. I lent my friend all my BB stuff to read cause he's a strict Marvel only guy so i've been bugging him lately to give it a try. He read all 24 and really enjoyed them. Looks like he'll be a monthly guy too.

God help me.

Batman 664 was really damn good.

More people should definitely read Blue Beetle.

Proof is an awesome book, glad to see people checking it out.

I'm going to be reading all of Morrison's bat issues (minus Ras and Bats and Son) when I have time.

From what I'm hearing and seeing,I like how Grant is focusing on Bat's psyche and not just giving us another run of the mill story.

I dropped 'Tec right after the solid Zatanna 2 parter.Dini's issues were great done in ones.

Um... why'd you drop Detective if you liked Dini's stories? The Ra's al Ghul stuff's done and it's back to solid done-in-ones, with even better art from Dustin Nguyen now.

I'm totally going to have to pick up the Dini/Nguyen issues. I noticed though that Milligan is writing the next issue. Is Dini off the book?

Yeah, GNR failed at logic there.

Batman and Son was rubbish, I didn't pick up any of the Ra's stuff either - that prose Joker issue was self-indulgent crap. Batman #666 just seemed boring to me.

However, the Club of Heroes story and the Third Man has been really good stuff. I do really like the way Morrison is playing with Batman's psyche. How it all seems to be tying together with some unseen manipulator and the Black Glove all seems to be classic Morrison. At the moment, I'm really looking forward to reading RIP.

One of the only things I'm pissed off with is the erasure of the Gotham Central cast - Morrison could have put them to good use.

He's back the issue after that. I don't know what it is for sure, but I'm guessing that between Dini working on Countdown and DC editorial pushing all its major comics into place for Final Crisis, Detective Comics keeps slipping through the cracks. It's a shame, too, 'cause if Dini were on his game every time and had the freedom to just write his stories in Detective with a good artist like Kramer or Nguyen, it'd probably be one of the best series DC's publishing right now. Instead it keeps getting interrupted with crossovers and fill-ins and no one really knows what to expect from it on any given month.

Is Nguyen fast enough to handle a monthly book?
I don't know. He had that sci fi comic for Wildstorm a little while ago, but that had delays and then just kind of stopped altogether with no warning. So I'm guessing no.

What sci-fi book was that? I remember he did a Wildcats series, but I don't remember if it shipped regularly.

No, he was replaced on Wildcats v3.0 before long by Duncan Rouleau. Um... I'm trying to remember the title of the sci fi book, but I'm blanking.

[One Google search later...]

Manifest Eternity. Shame that it just stopped. I was really getting into the story.

Huh. Never heard of it. I don't remember Rouleau doing that Wildcats book at all, though, and I think I have all of the issues.
