I too was rather disappointed in Uncanny X-Men. If the roster is indeed Cyclops, Wolverine, Emma Frost, Beast, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Angel, and Cannonball then what the hell is the point of even publishing Astonishing X-Men?

I think Uncanny is supposed to have a rotating cast.

I guess that's what they meant about Uncanny becoming the central X-title again.

She needs to come back and just be the in-house doctor for the X-Men, like how Anne was during Austen's run (I know, I know, but that one particular part of it was actually not a bad idea). Beast can't do it (even though they portray him in that role all the time) because he actually goes out on missions with the X-Men all the time. Cecelia never liked adventuring, so it fits her character to hang out at the X-Mansion or the San Francisco mansion or whatever.
Don't they have Prodigy for that, now?

I thought Prodigy was more a generally knowledgeable science type, not a medical doctor. But I also don't recall seeing the Academy X characters, like, at all since those Divided We Stand one-shots.

Either way, Prodigy can piss right off. Cecelia Reyes needs to come back. :cmad:

Prodigy has the skills of everyone he ever bumped into before he lost his powers. He helped Beast perform surgery during Messiah CompleX. And we damn well had better see him again!

All right, yeah, I like him. But I'm always uneasy about power copiers. If he didn't have to earn that knowledge, how can you really put the lives of the X-Men in his hands? If he had all the requisite knowledge, why didn't he perform the surgery instead of Beast? There's still something to be said for good old-fashioned learning, I think. Cecelia's got it. Prodigy can... fix the Blackbird with Nightcrawler? Or he could be, like, the assistant to everyone who's genuinely smart.

They don't need either of them when they got that kid who can heal people and Angel's blood.

Beast and Prodigy had to perform the surgery together because they were fixing the several holes Lady Deathstrike had driven through Hellion's chest. It was just one of those procedures it was best to have more than one surgeon on.

Otherwise, Prodigy can do any non-superpowered thing Beast can do. Fix the blackbird, perform surgery, work in his chem lab. He's a good character to have around the new X-Center to do stuff, although that's really about it. In a fight, his only advantages are Wolverine's/Shadowcat little-used martial arts skills.

Please. Like any writer remembers Archangel's healing blood. "Oh no! Several of our students are injured and Elixir is out cold! What ever shall we do?" Slit Warren's wrist, damnit! :cmad:

Which will take care of most costumed underlings.

Or a buncha *****e bags in hellfire club foot soldier costumes.

Except that he's got the fighting styles of a guy who's practically unkillable and a girl who can turn intangible with a thought while he is now a totally normal human. If Prodigy tries to fight anyone, that b**** is getting shot within five seconds. :o

You mean sort of like what Belasco did to him. :o

I love the character of Prodigy though...he needs to be HQ support, sort of like the X-Men's version of the Oracle.

That would be a cool use for him.

Cecelia gets to be the doctor, though. :)

Yea, she could be the doctor.

I'm thinking put Prodigy behind a slew of computer moniters very similar to what Oracle has, and he could basically play direct support to any teams out in the field at the time.

That would be awesome.

This makes so much sense, it will absolutely never happen. :(

Besides, half the time when Beast isn't around they rely on Elixir to heal people or, back when it was valid, blood transfusions from Angel (everyone is magically his blood type, apparently).

Still, Reyes hasn't been depowered and the X-Men should have a support staff.

Wasn't Sage a dues ex machina to "power up" various X-Men? Like kicking the blue pig in ALTER BEAST?

Yeah, I say have Cecelia as the doctor, Prodigy as the mission coordinator, Elixir as Cecelia's assistant, and Forge as the tech guy.
