And prob. 15,000 of those votes are fanboys, and 10,000 from fanboys. Give me a break. After this weekend the robots will be a distant memory. TF has an A- on Mojo. FF 2 has a B on Mojo.

I doubt that very much Carp, The movie was freaking awesome . Transformers is without a doubt the best Summer blockbuster of 2007 .

I do want to sigh at the arguments on here that attempt to use box office to prove a personal crusade. Box office ratings shouldn't be used as emotional scaffolding for a person's fragile arguments.

Box office shows mainstream popularity. That's it. Fantastic Four just aren't as ingrained in the mainstream as Die Hard/Bruce Willis and Harry Potter. Fantastic Four did have animated series, but not on any terrestrial channels and i never recall ever having seen FF cartoons on TV in the UK.

A colleague at work with a pre-school age son says her kid will want to see Transformers because there is a cartoon series running at the moment.

If Fantastic Four wants to be part of the mainstream, it has a lot more work to do to conquer the kids' market and be a household name. It's never going to be Harry Potter or Spider-Man now, and The Incredibles pulled the rug out from under the first movie, so they may as well appeal to the adult market instead and make a serious movie with deep, rich themes - bring on the Inhumans and a much darker, more adult, less campy tone.

Perhaps, with much less camp humour than we've had until now!

There's too little emotional substance in FF....although we got more in FF2.

If kids haven't really heard of FF, they should give up making it more of a kids' movie. It should be darker, veering towards X-Men.

In order to show character growth in a movie setting, the next movie has to depict the FF as less dysfunctional, a little more settled into family life and celebrity status.

I'd say that DH4 is doing pretty damn well for it's self and so is Transformers, although there is still no telling how the legs will be, because make no mistake Harry Potter 5000 will hurt it's second weekend. I'm not saying that it will kill it or anything but it will be hurt.

He said it. You can have the campiness and humor, that is an FF trade mark, out of this world spectacular battles and sci fi concepts and heartfelt drama has always been a hallmark of the comic book.

What is happening with the movie is that they are locking in on a particular demographic. Story said those are the numbers Fox showed him, well that is why the movie is at 120 million right now and the general feeling is that it is under performing. They can't make a 2 1/2 hour movie because the kiddies would get restless. Man, I love kids but when did they start to rule over us.

FF natcherly (thing talk) appealed to a wide cross section due to the accessibility of its characters.

The vision of Fox for FF is not the one that fans are familiar with.

That is why they probably don't understand the problems they created with Doom and Galactus.

Somebody tell them that this is a comic book with 40 years of stories and history and if they change too much it is like shooting themselves in the foot with longstanding fans.

FF is not Men in Black. You can take an obscure book and make many changes, it is a lot harder to take a property with 40 years and just make major changes because you think that a giant humanoid would not work.

Geez that is the aspect of Galactus that makes him so impressive. He is a giant with immense power. Doom is a megalomaniac who is the ruler of a whole nation.

The FF is not Batman or Spiderman or stuff, they are however the FF of the comic books and the movies fell short at the worst possible times.

It looks to me like when you have a well known property that messing with the source too much is a huge mistake. Fox made that mistake with Doom and Galactus.

LOL! I remember reading that FF was moving away from the same date as Transformers. I was thinking, wth, Transformers won't have anything on FF2...

Now that I look back in retrospect, I'm ashamed to say I said that.

Who the hell wants to grow up ? t: I'm in kid heaven, compliments of Marvel. I don't want to grow up. If I did I would be like most here, and most of the critics. Old men ready for the nursing home. Dried up old prunes. People who forgot how to go to a movie and have fun. I don't want to get like that.
