Fantastic Four sequel scouting in Vancouver for July launch

Although 20th Century Fox's comic adaptation of Fantastic Four, shot here last year, wasn't a big hit with critics and upset many Marvel comic purists, it brought in more than $150 million in the US after its premiere last July and since then has made $320 million US worldwide. In late October, 20th Century Fox greenlit a sequel to Fantastic Four and took out ads in the industry trades announcing its launch date -- July 4, 2007 -- and they're now checking out Vancouver locations...

Note from AD: It made more than 330 million worldwide.

Does anyone have the full article or is that it.

No that's not it I just can't open the whole damn thing. However I justed added the comments on the front page of C2F in the first post.

Cool!! It's great to see something actually happening.

This is good news because remember they annouced 12/04/04 last time but sat on it for a year. Now the cast has been notified, scouting has began. If scouting has began then they know what they're looking for so somewhat of pitch must be out there and has been approved. Actually I think Story had the first 3 films mapped out. He might just get his Silver Surfer wish for part 3. I really hope they film 2 & 3 back to back and end part 2 with a cliff hanger showing the Surfer racing towards Earth.

Vancouver again? I was hoping New York this time around - it would make it more epic..........

It doesn't need NY to be more epic.Better details and post-production!Only.

^True, but NY still would have been better........

And more $$$$ involved just to shoot there....i'd rather that money go to other things like effects, time given to shooting etc...

Scouting locations ALREADY?

I really hope they're working hard on a great story, rather than trying to release this movie ASAP.

What do you mean already? they are supposed to to start shooting in June, i hope they are scouting locations...???

Excellent, glad to hear they truly are tryin to get things off the ground right away. Let the fan4 rollercoaster begin once again.

I'm just hoping that they shoot more stuff in NY.

While they did a decent effort to make Vancouver look like NY, they should show more ground level shots in the city. I didn't really feel that the Baxter Building was in NYC or the climax of the film where they fought Doom (especially with that bus). The Brooklyn Bridge scene, Johnny in Times Square (which I think was greenscreen), and the scene where Invisible Woman was running down the street were good tries though.

What I meant was that they should be taking their time with this and not rushing.

Take Batman, for example. The sequal is projected to come out in 2008. They're working on the story/script now. If that's not taking time and making sure everything's perfect, I don't know what is.

All I want is to get the best possible movie. Is that so difficult?

Well that may be difficult for Fox....from what i've heard they were working on the script all this past year....i don't think its something they just started even a few months ago...also that should go faster w/ Story already on board and hopefully helping w/ the script...one of the things people have stated about the difference between Barbershop and Barbershop 2 was the fact that Story worked on the script as well w/ the first and as people know it was enormously better than the sequel......and hopefully they will learn from the weaknesses of the last...i was hoping they would actually be able to start filming in April so that all their months of filming would be good weather months...(not that you really have good weather months in Vancouver...but the summer months are better than others...)and then they would have ample amount of time for post production work which we know was a weakness as well of the first movie....i don't know.....speculation doesn't come easy for me....

Indeed.

That was the only scene that was done in NY that actually gave off the NY feel and they should do more of that. I realize that filming there is expensive but you have to do at least a couple of more scenes with the city such as the Spider-Man movies which were also done in California.

i thought they did a very good job w/ the bridge scene...and Johnny's flying scene...as far as Sue's scene...they could have done that in Vancouver and saved some money...

Point taken.

Wouldn't the fact that they are scouting locations imply that they have at least a rough draft of the script now? Wouldn't they need that before they could do any scouting?

Thats what i'm thinking....and i hope......to all hope.....that they keep things quieter this time....it was too damn easy getting information....

Yeah I liked the bridge scene alot too, as well as the flying one.

As for the Sue scene, I thought it was money well spent if it made the Fantastic Four movie NY feel more like the NY I know just a little bit more.
