If I am cheating, or wrong, then why does boxofficemojo, hollywoodreporter, and every other box office tracking website count July 3rd as it's opening day? Maybe it's because the movie was only out for 4 hours on July 2nd.... hmmm... But, lets say for the sake of your argument that July 2nd is the official first day of Transformers. Take away the front load of both movies (the first five days) and we get:
Transformers: $90.3
Harry Potter: $68.1
So, according to you, Transformers is at an even higher pace now! Way to make me look even more right! You're not helping out your own argument much. Look Carpy, I'm sure you won't forget these conversations so I'll just leave it alone for the next 12 days or so and when the first weekend of August has tallied up and it's obvious at that point that not only will Potter not finish first domestically, but Transformers will also beat it out, I'll let you know... again.
You know. Kids with the Harry Potter book, it's like when you were 12, 13, and got your hands on your 1st girlie magazine. You locked yourself in your bedroom, and, _____. Then you came out charged. After that you never looked at girls the same way you did before. Same thing with HP. They will read all weekend, come out ready to hit the theaters again. 12 million copies gone like that. 12 million kids and parents that may come to the theaters this next week. They knew what they were doing releasing it the 2nd weekend the movie was out. Take a hit now, and make up for it later. TF's doesn't have a prayer at the # 1 spot, domesticly, or WW, for the summer, or the year. The summer belongs to HP, SM 3, and Pirates. It might catch Shrek 3. So 4th or 5th for the summer, or the year is the best it can hope for.

t: And no I was not comparing girlie magazines to Harry Potters new book. I was comparing the level of excitment, anticipation, and satisfaction. The 2 are compairable, allbeit in different lights.
