Rise of the Silver Surfer BOX OFFICE Discussion

Guys relax, maybe memphis didn't know how it works...its not the end of the world...plus we all know that it made much more than 4,000 bucks....-phew- that would be a total disaster!! :o

Memphis the film has over 200 million worldwide so its more like a 100 million dollar profit :)

^ It'll be close to 300 million about 55% of which goes to the studio. The DVD sales will push it into the major profits and the tv rights, etc...

Fox may decide to do a Silver Surfer series of films if the 1st one is successful and then reboot FF like The Hulk in 5 years. They can do that if they wish but they have these actors on the cheap so they'll make part 3.

It would be nice if this thing could somehow sneak past The Hulk but I don't think it'll go to 132+ I guess 131 is possible.

Not going to hit 132. 131 outside shot, but no more. Is there still $ 586,000 more domestic left to get ? It's down to 307 theaters, and made $ 410,687 since Friday.

300 million (maybe) after EVERYTHING IS counted in......300 million WW from theatre, no way it will get near that.....

After everything is counting in it'll be WAY higher than 300 million. It'd be closer to 400 million. There's several different tv contracts some that overlap one another where Fox is double dipping, the dvd, special edition dvd, contracts with hotels, airlines, etc...

It's over 240 million right now with 8 major territories left to go. Plus all the holdovers domestic and overseas throughout. It'll come pretty close to 300 worldwide theatrically. I'd say 280 million would be the absolute lowest worldwide.

I hope advanced dark is right *crosses fingers*
I don't care what anyone says... :o...this movie was good imo. Not the best of the summer but I was entertained and had a good time at the theater and I really really want to see Fantastic Four 3 (I don't care if they change director or not...just give me a FF3)

I'd like to see all the same characters return, but Doom has to be more evil and more of a presence throughout the movie.

Lolololol

Really I'd like Puppet Master and Mole Man as a said villain

Ugh. Want to stick a spear into the franchise and call it half-baked? Bring the Mole Man or the Puppet Master into this. Half of the issue was that no one could take these films seriously. Even with the Puppet Master's connection to Ben's love interest, you'd make one of the most uneventful movies imaginable with that character. This needs a big scope and ambition, not a generic villain who will just further the painful attempts at fleshing out these characters...we can give up on that at this point. And the Mole Man? The Mole Man...do I need to get into that? His monster would make a nice reference to the first issue, but that's about it.

I understand not wanting Mole Man but I think Puppet Master is rather cool.

There's no way he could come off any lamer than Doom did in FF1.

Wow, I just realized that beyond the realm of Spiderman and Batman (and X-Men since I've seen all three films) I can't name more than one villian.
But, even with the case of Spiderman, I think all of the best villians have been used up and all that are remaining are "second tier" villians. Anyone other than hardcore Spiderman fans will be generally unexcited to see Vulture, Magneto, Scorpion, Electro, Rhino, and Lizard.

Anyways, so if a Silver Surfer film is made will that extend Fox's rights of the Fantastic Four - even when none of the F4 characters would be in the movie?

Seeing as how Fox has a habit of being tight with the money, and they love those 90 minute quickies, this will never happen as long as Fox is involved, but I'd love to see the Inhumans, if it is done right. :woot: Bring on Lockejaw. If it is done right, marketed right, it could be big, and have the Inhumans as a spinoff franchise. Inhumans Vs. X-Men anyone ? Just my thoughts.
