Transformers Box Office Thread

I think it was Spielberg who pushed for the "humor" in TF.

I didn't mind the humor; I didn't like the limited character interaction with the decepticons, I didn't like the off screen fight between Prime and Megatron, and I didn't like how the cube turned everything evil (including a car, xbox, and mountain dew machine).

Here's a plot idea for TF2:

A Decepticon sabatoges the Autobots goodwill on Earth by posing as an Autobot and destroying an international monument, causing various Governments to label any Transformer as an enemy of the state. Starscream assumes command and returns to Earth with reinforcements, intent on taking over the planet for it's resources, but Soundwave and Barricade secretly find Megatron and revive him. A few more autobots arrive, but Bumblebee is ambushed by Decepticons and Sam & Mikaela are captured, luring the Autobots into a battle that, ultimately, is a trap since they'll be heavily outnumbered.

That's all I've got and it's just an idea anyway.

Those sounds really good ideas. Hopefully, in the final part of this trilogy we really a cool battle between op and megs. I also want to see shockwave to complicate things a bit.

TF is doing well and it looks to top off about where i said it would after seeing the film. Before i saw the movie, I had it pegged around 250 mil domestically, but after seeing it I gave it around 300 million, 320 max domestically. It may make it to 330, but I don't see it going past 335 mil.

It's not getting near $330 M. It may not reach Shrek 3 either. I think it'll finish 3rd in the domestic race. But it's a success nonetheless. I think Kargo Warrior or any other box office mojo can explain it better.

that works in the way that the autobots being outnumbered is the perfect way to bring in the most bad ass of all autobots.......aka Grimlock

I loved Grimlock as a kid, but I'm not so sure I want to see him in a live action movie.

What do you guys think, do you think its gonna reach 315mil to be on the top 20 all time US Box Office? I think that would be truly an accomplishment for this movie.

I just realized to be at the top 20, TF has to knock out 2 POTC sequel, 2 star wars sequel, a lord of the rings movie, and independence day.

Wow. I think it can do it.

It'll be close, but I think it can do it. I don't think it'll get much higher, if at all, though.

I don't know about 315 million, but I do see 300 million in the future

Tuesday estimates. $830,000

$298,144,000

Thanks to Transformers, Potter, and the Simpsons July '07 is the biggest box office month ever in hollywood history.

^ Is it??? It's bigger than May with Shrek, Pirates, and Spidey 3??? Biggest July or biggest ever???

Yes, July 2007 is the highest grossing box office month ever. However it's not really fair to say. Inflation will always have a role. Secondly, the May movies had no "big" April movies going into May.

^Awesome, with this level of success, i can see a big budget increase for the sequel.

Awsome. We are getting there. There's is no way they aren't making a sequel. The DVD sales will be great, and the toys give the movie an added bonus in sales.
