Looking at Transformer's pace, it won't pass Pirates until probably next weekend (Aug. 24-26), and it'll finish close to $309-311 million. Not bad for being the 3rd highest grossing movie domestically, and (possibly) 5th highest worldwide!

The sequel can't come soon enough...

I guess after it passes Pirates, we'll have to see if it can pass Shrek on the worldwide scene.

That's not a big surprise to me. I was most looking forward to Transformers this year, but I personally thought Bourne Ultimatum is the best movie I've seen this summer. On that same thought, though, I'd rather watch Transformers repeatedly than Bourne Ultimatum (which means my future Transformers DVD will get more play time than Bourne) and the movie I'm most looking forward to now is Transformers 2, even though it hasn't even begun production or been given a release date.

Transformers passing 2 Pirates movies is a great victory for Transformers fans. The Pirates movies are God over there at Boxofficemojo. I just checked that site. However, TF got the B+ grade based on 2,497 votes and AWE got a B grade based on 2,301 votes.
