but seriously, i'm too afraid of rejection to make a move on any girl...because i've been going through a dry spell in relationships, and every rejection to me is just one less girl that i have a chance with...plus i never know when a girl is sending signals or when she is just "fooling around"

As a girl I kind of go through the same thing. I mean, guys will act interested in me for a while and once I show just a little bit of interest they suddenly aren't as into me..A lot of guys just like the chase .
