Millenials with their rock and roll and their skinny jeans. Get a job that's not s startup you hippies.
It might have something to do with the fact that it has been 30 years since the last Mad Max .
Movie has done pretty well, well considering that a whole generation has barely heard of it before .

Saw it, it was ok. The wife did not like it as was different from what she expected. Honestly the trailers never really explained what the movie was really about. It could have been a lot better I think. But it was not horrible.

Was your wife expecting more Tomorrowland from a movie called Tomorrowland?
I know that I was .

Not sure about her, but I was. I thought there would be more involvement with this Tomorrowland place. Maybe its just me but to me this was what I was getting from the trailers. Girl gets mysterious pin glimpses Tomorrowland, somehow find this guy and they escape in a bathtub go to Tomorrowland then, well that's where it got vague really fast. I assumed they would go there, see wonderful things have a grand adventure. The wife on the other hand I had to wake up twice lol By the way WORST way to advertise (as Clooney put it) .. I am talking about the pin.. give someone a pin where they actually have to move around in real life in order to move around in the advertisement, walk into traffic.. walk off a cliff.. Not sure why this is not separating my posts paragraphs..

Yeah, I think that was Bird or more Lindelof trying to subvert the whole idea of what Tomorrowland is, kinda making it a metaphor moreso than actual place.

I love this movie!!!

I love how this movie attacked the interests for dystopian entertainment in movies and video games.

Here are some questions that are swarming around in my head:

1. So why was Tomorrowland abandoned, it wasn't explained, was it because everyone saw the end of the world prediction and they all just left, because they all lost hope for the future? Did Hugh Laurie's character kick them all out and used his robots to prevent those people from ever getting back to Tomorrowland?

2. At the end of the movie who were those people that came out of the shadows, was it humans or robots?

3. At the very end of the movie with them recruiting people, is it the plan in the future to go public about Tommorowland like those in the 60's planned on doing to share it all with the rest of the world?

4. How come Hugh Laurie's character never aged in forty years? Are we supposed to just believe in what he said that he was drinking something every morning that has kept him looking young all these years?

In my opinion Walt would have loved this movie. I think this film will be watched by (Walt) Disney fans for years to come!

"There are two wolves who are always fighting. One is darkness and despair. The other is light and hope. The question is: which wolf wins?"

The answer: "The one you feed."

Yeah, it wasn't explained but it was assumed that he created or someone created something that slowed the process. It wasn't spelled out, which I did like.

Thought it was rubbish. Kids movie and Brad Bird's worst.
I can't believe this is from the same guy that gave us Iron Giant and Incredible.

Can't believe I went all out for this movie (imax) because it was Brad bird and saw Mad Max on a smaller screen because I thought it was going to suck (saw thunderdome).

Arggh!!

Next time, read reviews? :o

I mean, 98% RT vs 51% RT, it's kind of no contest. :funny:

51%? To be fair, I have seen movies I have enjoyed with low RT scores but unfortunately this is not one of those movies.

Well, I just got back, and I liked it well enough. I can see why critics aren't loving it, as it did get awfully preachy, Clooney seemed miscast, we barely got any actual "Tomorrowland" and the 3rd act was pretty basic. BUT, it was well crafted with some fun moments and nice ideas, so I had no problem enjoying it anyway. I'd probably give it a 7.5/10.

Avoid reviews before seeing movies as they sometimes have spoilers.

No kidding. I had the ending of Toy Story 3 spoiled for me in a review. Not a major calamity but it was annoying because I didn't think they'd reveal how a movie ended in a review.

I can, I mean it does strike me as another 'kids movie'

Good kid movies can or rather should be able to appeal to the young and old.
Iron Giant.
Incredibles.
Ratatouille.

Are movies that work on the level of kids and adults.
Tomorrowland just panders to kids. If you are an adult and you didn't like it, well, the movie wasn't made for you. Brad Bird is supposed to be better than that. Typical Disney kiddy schlock.

I heard people griping that it was too bleak. Wasn't bleak enough for you, huh?

I liked it
Very positive view of the future.
They can't all be like Fury Road .
There is room for both .

This was pretty meh. Didn't dislike it but didn't think it was that great either besides a couple great setpieces.

My review:

The most movie was mostly watchable. It has those Bird visual highlights, like the visual gags that he and many animators have perfects. The acting is good..the production design is good.. I'm kinda puzzled why this movie is only PG, when it should've been PG-13..oh well.

But I do have an issue with the ending:

So David Nix gets killed (which is dumb), and the monitor (another dumb thing) gets destroyed right? His philosophy of how to conduct Tomorrowland failed.

What does Frank and Casey do afterwards? They're doing the same damn thing that Nix did, just without the Monitor and only with dreamers now, excluding the majority of the population on Earth.Tomorrowland still ends up being a secret club for a select group of people.

Maybe I missed it, but how does this improve actual Earth and its population? '

If I missed anything, Bird should've made it clear that this Tomorrowland will invest its effort to make Earth into a better place. Maybe by broadcasting Earth's probable future, it'll show that people, no matter what background, can make a difference. You can be a plumber, or a McDonald's employee.

I just don't understand Nix's motivations. They explained it but I just don't buy it. Why not turn off the monitor? Why not turn the monitor's dial to positive? And then only to kill him off? He never learned a damn thing, did he?

It breaks my heart because it's actually a well directed film with a lousy script. It makes me kinda angry. Also, the first two acts went on for way too long. Bird should've condensed it all, and then focused on Tommorland in the second act and third act, not just squeeze actual plot into the (seemingly) third act.

6.5 (pushing a 7)/10

So I saw a TV spot proclaiming the movie as the #1 movie in America.

So is everything okay then?
