EXCLUSIVE: Brad Peyton, who helmed the global hit Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, has just been set by Warner Bros to rewrite & direct Lobo, the live action film based on the DC Comics franchise. Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman producing.

Lobo is an alien that works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter. Introduced as a hardened, rarely used hard boiled villain in the 1980s, the character remained in limbo until his revival as an anti-hero biker in the early 1990s, when he became on of the most popular characters in the DC Comics stable.

Peyton is repped by Verve and Piekoff Law.

Now paging Dwayne Johnson! Mr. Johnson, your comic book movie is here.

Jefferey Dean Morgan for Lobo

Yeah, they plan to dilute Lobo to a PG-13 movie. No freakin way!

Oh hells yes! Lobo is god!

There's no way in hell The Rock is even remotely suitable for playing Lobo.

See, DC seems to feel they can bring all their C and D-listers to the screen because frankly, there isn't a lot of baggage fanboys have compared to WW, Flash and the like. If they **** with it, no one is going to whine.

And the C and D list characters won't cost 150 million dollars.

Lobo can be seen as response to yet to be declared Venom or Deadpool movie.

But, I am fearing another Jonah Hex. (Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman producing.)

It's safer to do a Lobo or a Doom Patrol than an Aquaman, basically. Hell, we'd probably see the Metal Men before any JL type flick.

Anyone familiar with Brad Peyton's work?

Safe movie suggestions (basically C and D Listers that do not cost more than 150 mil.)

Swamp Thing
Spectre.
Dr. Fate
Question

He's Canadian, directed mostly shorts for Canada TV until he got his big break with Cats and Dogs 2. Journey 2 was good for what it was, mostly pretty whimsical and kinda tongue in cheek. That is the only thing that makes me think he can do this, as Cats and Dogs and Journey were both pretty self aware.

lol, the only thing that'd make this film worthwhile is if someone like The Rock played Lobo.

So is this going to be WB's 2014 DC film?

Not even remotely?

I just dont see Lobo in him

Actors I could see Lobo in tho would be Jason Mamoa or Jeffrey Dean Morgan although my absolutee favourite for the casting would be Rob Zombie haha, but thats purely based on looks :D
