John Malkovich joins Jonah Hex!!!!

come on, where are the manip-guys..?

The boss man said not yet, we've got bigger fish to fry first.

:gl:
Ah ok was just wondering on the status of own section i guess more likely once it starts production in april.

They actually have a production start time now? Where'd you hear this?

I haven't checked up on this everyday but last I checked things were kind of in the murky phase. There's so many films that get started and never made it's ridiculous. There's even been films that have already been green lit and headed towards production that don't (like the Justice League move). So I don't give a crap about anything "in development" until it actually is "in development" (meaning the actors are on set filming it).

I''m very skepticle about this movie and here's why:

They changed directors again about 1 month ago (thankfully Lexi Alexander left for making a non-studio film, which should hopefully return to good movie making). Josh Brolin apparently ok with the new director is back on board after dissing the script and previous 2 co-directors that were on board back in November.

The only question is, where's the new script? Are they just gonna hatch things together and make a ****** movie again? Look at Punisher, they didn't even have a script to begin with. They just hatched together a bunch of past scripts into some sort of Frankenstein like abomination (a thing studios do all the time since they like to pay millions to churn out crap transforms into $). This doesn't have anything to do with the Hex movie but studio's follow this process all too often.

Does anyone even know if the scripts supposedly done before all these actors are being attached?

Brolin never dissed the script, he just bullied the firectors off, and hand picked his own. In the Martin campbell in talks to direct Green lantern article, Variety confirms production is set for April, and they are using the script the Crank guys wrote, they're just not directing

Not far off, but GL is more than likely getting one first.

Hmmm... Thanks for the info. Not sure this is good.

I don't know how else to spin this but check out the headline (from this it definitely seems he disses the script):

Yeah, I've seen that, the important part is the "I love it" and he signed to do it so

Yeah, well he's definitely benefiting from it in some way (maybe getting paid more?).

I'm just wondering though, if you've seen that article, how did you get the impression that Josh didn't diss the script?

Is it just cause he eventually signed on to the movie?

He likely meant "awful" as in "twisted/demented", not low quality. At least, that's the impression I got.

Well the article does state that he's had an on/off again relation to the film and departure of the 2 directors was due to "creative differences". This along with the following quote:
“When I first read it I thought, oh my God it’s awful!” Brolin exclaimed to MTV News. “And then I had a moment a week later and I thought why is it awful? Maybe the thing to do is to do the most awful movie I can find.”

Unless there's some other information out there refuting or following up with more details, I can't see how Brolin meant that the script was "twisted/demented" in light of that quote.

I'm not trying to contradict anything you say but am just curious as to how you see things differently?

The script is very much "awful" in the willfull silliness of the set-pieces, and how depraved and utterly bonkers it gets at points. Planet Terror (which Josh Brolin was in) was "awful", deliberately and gloriously so. And as a result, is a whole load of fun. And then, of course, there is Crank, also by Neveldine/Taylor. Another "awful" movie that is just a great guilty pleasure.

Have you read the script to find this out?

From Josh Brolin's reaction (unless you have hidden details giving more insight), he didn't let on that it's a spoof in any way.

The script doesn't present this as a spoof so much as it's just crazy, crazy stuff.

Well, I'm guessing they'll try changing it at some point if the directors ended up leaving. I guess we'll find out. (Is there a link I can check this script out at?)

I'm just hoping they don't wing it like what's done on comic films like that Punisher movie that just came out (I heard they were making parts of the script during production at times). I think there should at least be a great script in place before everything else is put together. If production starts soon I wonder if they'll have time.

last thing i heard they are using the script still the crank directors(former hex directors) came out with and they just left the project. Yes before filming/during filming their might be some changes to script but i doubt anything to serious. Plus i dont think we have to worry about this film being a spoofy/parody film. Its meant to be a western/scifi-fantasy elements added in.

Yes, I've read the script, and drew my conclusions based on that. As The Guard said, its utterly bonkers at points.

Bonkers in a way that Tarantino and Rodriguez would go in. Not a Schumacher type of bonkers.

That's so funny you saying that, Oct...because he looks an awful lot like Lambert in the face...uncanny!
there is talk of a highlander remake maybe jane could do it
