One of the few actors in their early 30s I've seen that I could believe having a Bat-Family. No clue on his acting though.

He was fine in Orient Express, but it’s hard to say if he’s got a leading role in him.

Given age and looks and presumed age proximity to Superman and Wonder Woman recastings, big fan of the Mr. Daisy Ridley (aka Tom Bateman) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen picks.

Tom Bateman was really good in Behind Her Eyes. Check it out on Netflix. I’m not 100% sold on him as Batman but he’s definitely a good actor. I could also maybe see him as Bond.

Also, the tennis fan in me wants to see him cast in the inevitable Roger Federer biopic.

If the guy can get a more consistent American accent I'd be perfectly happy with him going for it. It was distracting enough hearing Fassbender's Irish accent coming through with Magneto. Can't have it for Batman. :funny:

I think Pedro would make a pretty cool Zorro, though, at 47,he'd be too old to play a Rookie version of the character.

But as a veteran Zorro, I could see it.

Gonna throw a bizarre curveball here: Assuming Ben Affleck directs this (since he'ss pretty much director rumored for it right now), who would Ben Affleck cast as Batman?

Here are some actors he's cast before, as reference:

Michelle Monaghan (Gone Baby Gone)
Ed Harris (Gone Baby Gone)
Morgan Freeman (Gone Baby Gone)
Jeremy Renner (The Town)
Blake Lively (The Town
Rebecca Hall (The Town)
Jon Hamm (The Town)
Bryan Cranston (Argo)
John Goodman (Argo)
Scoot McNairy (Argo)
Kerry Bishé (Argo)
Alan Arkin (Argo)
Chris Cooper (Live by Night)
Zoe Saldana (Live by Night)
Elle Fanning (Live by Night)
Sienna Miller (Live by Night)
Matt Damon (Air)
Jason Bateman (Air)
Chris Messina (Air)
Marlon Wayans (Air)
Chris Tucker (Air)
Viola Davis(Air)

Also I guess since Andy Muschietti is the only other dude that right now seems like he might get this:

Victoria Harris (Mamá)
Jessica Chastain (Mama, It Chapter Two)
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Mama)
Megan Charpentier (Mama)
Isabelle Nélisse (Mama)
Jaeden Martell (It)
Bill Skarsgard (It)
James McAvoy (It Chapter Two)
Bill Hader(It Chapter Two)
Isaiah Mustafa(It Chapter Two)
Jay Ryan(It Chapter Two)
James Ransone(It Chapter Two)
Andy Bean(It Chapter Two)

All those actors for Andy Muschietti and no mention of Bill Skarsgard?

Thinking about it more deeply, Fassbender might not be as much of a pipe dream as I initially thought.

The man spent years trying to spearhead the development of an Assassin's Creed cinematic franchise, one that if succesful was probably gonna tie into videogames and other projects much like what Gunn wants to do here. He's clearly comfortable being in blockbusters, and a character like Batman seems like it'd appeal to him. I know he's semi-retired now from acting because of his focus on racing, but the prospect of being Batman on something as ambitious as this might be enough to pull him back in. At least, looking at his filmography it'd be really hard for me to think he wouldn't be tempted to do it. And as far as choices go, I think nobody can deny he'd give an absolutely stellar performance.

The biggest problem for him though is that he's probably at the very upper limit of what I'd imagine the age range for this Batman would be. And looking at images of him during the past year, well...

He definitely looks his age lol. I love him and I think he'd be a dream come true, between him and Pace I almost can't decide who'd be better for Morrison's Batman, but I just don't know if he's what Gunn would want for this at this stage. I've been a proponent of an older Batman for this for a while, but past 45 currently might be pushing it, even though he does strike me as someone that could remain pretty athletic even going into his 60s.

I think he's a fantastic actor, and his performance in Steve Jobs is one of my favorites from the 2010's, but even beyond him shifting his career path towards racing he has a very serious allegation levied against him - the kind that might make gunn/wb think twice about hiring him if it ever gets more widely covered.

That's a complicated topic to talk about, as I do think the accusations against him are extremely damning, but...
They were from 14 years ago, nothing ended up coming of them at the time or after they resurfaced by the Daily Beast in 2018, the charges were withdrawn (not to say that proves innocence, it definitely doesn't, but still, something to take into consideration), the person that accused him hasn't spoken about it since filling those charges, and he hasn't had any accusations like that ever since (By all accounts, he's been in a pretty stable relationship with Alicia Vikander for the past few years) nor have they seemed to affect his career in any way.
I don't want to minimize the severity of his actions provided they did happen, but it's kind of a murky topic at the moment. I don't think they'd really affect his chances of getting cast since they haven't affected his chances on anything else at the moment and nobody seems to know what went on there.

As far as personal opinions go I can see why that would make people weary of wanting him in the role though, and respect it. Looking at his professional life exclusively I think he might be one of the best choices out there, his personal stuff is a question mark to me so I try not to factor that into my personal preference.

Another high profile actor that's been a big fancast for years and that the more I think about it, the more I think he'd actually end up wanting to do this is Jake Gyllenhaal (I know he was the first name mentioned here but still)
He clearly enjoyed being in the MCU, looking at his recent career it seems he's completely given up on the prospect of chasing an Oscar or even super interesting projects, and back in 2015 he said he'd love to play Batman and thinks he's the best superhero. I also think this whole idea that he's too high-brow to get into multi picture deals or something is complete BS. He's never stated anything of the sort nor any sort of disdain towards blockbusters from what I've gathered, and on his interviews he talks about how he sees acting as a place to have fun and play; and doesn't like the idea of taking himself too seriously.

Matt allegedly had considered him right after the Affleck departure, he was one of Nolan's finalists, he certainly has a high caliber as an actor. He's fit, he's 42 so he's probably the right age and still looks fairly young, can do action, is intense as an actor, but... I don't know. I just can't see him as Batman for some reason, or more specifically, this Batman.

One of my gripes with him is his voice. It's all sorts of wrong for Bruce Wayne, and with Gunn wanting the actors to also become voice actors on this I feel the voice part is gonna be extra important now. He's trained in Broadway so maybe he can make it deeper or has more vocal range than what's been shown in previous performances of his, but I've always heard him with the same voice.
My other gripe with him is that something about his acting doesn't entirely sell me on him as Batman, or at least not this type of JL-starring, Bat-Family patriarch Batman. Granted, I can see him selling some of the more insane moments from the Morrison run, and maybe he could surprise on the other sense too. I don't know.

I don't think he's someone Gunn would cast as Batman either. He has a very particular way of casting really recognizable, high profile actors and casting Gyllenhaal as Batman doesn't fit that. It actually feels more likely Gunn would cast Gyllenhaal as Catman or Midnighter or something. But depending on who they get to direct, I could see that person being really interested in Gyllenhaal for the part. Affleck for example seems like he'd really gravitate towards him, maybe Muschietti as well. Lee Pace on the other hand strikes me as a pure James Gunn casting pick since he fits all the criteria on how he goes about it and what he likes on his actors and the parts he gives to them.

I’m not sure if Alexander Dreymon can do an American accent but if so, I think he could crush this. He’s 40 but doesn’t look it and could definitely pull off the intensity and physicality of the role. He just wrapped the Last Kingdom movie finale so he would be free to do something new.

Depends on the angle which I imagine will be the opposite of The Batman with it's younger Bats to distinguish itself.

The DCU Bruce Wayne/Batman is supposed to be the head of the "Bat family" as some have said is in the source material.

So someone older... a father/mentor figure... more on the physically built side... looks like someone who can break your Johnson in half and outthink your every move too...

I kinda doubt they'll go as old as 50+ for this take, but in case they did, it's interesting to consider the possibilities for that age range:

-Jon Hamm
-Josh Brolin
-Bradley Cooper
-Eric Bana.
-Karl Urban
-Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Tho admittedly that'd be bizarre)
-Guy Pearce.
-Richard Armitage.
-Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
-Anson Mount (Although maybe he's already screwed over his chances seeing how he got into a stupid internet fight with Gunn years ago)

Brolin as a cantankerous Batman trying to deal with his psychotic teenage son could be hilarious to watch.

Provided he can pull off a Bob Odenkirk in "Nobody", no one is really able to argue he's stopped looking the part. He was the fancast of Tom King too, who is part of the architect team putting all of this together, and appareantly James Gunn fancasted him as Bond once. He was pseudo-campagining for the role a bit after Affleck left, so this would finally be his chance. He has experience in voice acting as well so... who knows.

Getting Batman v Superman PTSD flashbacks when it came out that Batman was going to be older and weary

I don’t think Hamm has any interest in playing action or superhero roles
