I feel perfectly fine with Team-6 shooting Osama in the head even if he was unarmed. I feel fine with him being dumped into the sea, whether per Islamic ceremony or not. I feel fine with violating Pakistan's sovereignty (which is debatable) for one mission to nab the USA's most wanted public enemy. So basically everything that went down I feel fine about. We didn't do anything that stepped over the line. We didn't shoot him with bullets dipped in pig blood. We didn't lynch him in the middle of the WTC site. We didn't fulfill any crazy revenge fantasies. We merely executed an operation to neutralize the most dangerous terrorist alive. There was nothing we did that compromised our integrity or moral high-ground. We treated OBL with infinitely more respect than he treated his victims.

For the critics of Team-6's actions, I would love to see their composure if they were the ones creeping through Osama Bin Laden's mansion in the dead of night.

Yeah. Some of them just don't get it.

And as for "isolated media", I do check more than the AP releases or what something like CNN would report and speculate about. I often check the BBC website as well as NPR. (BTW, the BBC has a handy and more thorough timeline about the intelligence hunt for bin Laden, something that AP didn't do as well.)

If we were not in the "information age"....I would actually agree with those who say we are very uninformed as Americans....BUT, that is not the case today....and never will be again....unless of course someone sets off a pulse and knocks out all of our sattelites....then I might have a tad bit of a problem getting information from anything other than NBC, CBS and ABC...lol

BBC is one of my biggest sources, but hell I'll watch Al Jazerra as well to get a different perspective....

I have this sneaky feeling that the government may already have me on a possible watch list as far as my internet usage...lmao...in getting ready for my projects for my kiddos I go to some pretty wild websites...

And let me be VERY CLEAR....everyone has a right to their own opinion, based on their own perspective and viewership, etc.....but the arrogance is kind of annoying thats all....

Plenty of *****ey Americans too, though. Hate to stereotype, but it seems to be mostly young people, teens and those in their early 20's who are the worst with the judging our country's morality and/or conspiracy theories.

And plenty of fine foreigners too. Had a drink with an Englishman the other night who was very happy about Bin Laden being put out to pasture.

DEFINITELY....I'm sure I could go to some Political Forums based in Canada and see the exact same thing, except from Americans....so that is a definite.

I just don't see the need to constantly disrespect another country because I disagree with their policies, etc....NOR, do I see the need to generalize about the citizens of a country simply because of the policies of their government.

EXAMPLE: The "people" of Afghanistan are actually some of the most hospitable people you will ever meet, but their government leaves a lot to be desired....

So when I watched those 10+ minutes of Hannity last night for a recap on the "debate", I saw him and a couple of pundits (plus the always apologetic Juan Williams) I saw them start attacking the president on his handling of bin Laden. They want a picture and are furious about that which I can understand, though I think it is ironic than Hannity blows off concerns for troop safety after spending years trying to position himself as the voice of the troops.

However, he kept accusing the president and his administration of bungling this because we gave bin Laden a bare-minimum appropriate Islamic burial. He was pissed and telling his viewers (who are probably nodding their heads) that if we are going to say he isn't a Msulim we shouldn't have done that and it makes us look weak! Then he started complaining about Obama being at ground zero yesterday even though it was a very respectful and small ceremony (which hopefully can add a bookend to our country's fear that began the week of 9/11 and can be seen when Bush was there) and flat out lied saying Obama had never been to Ground Zero before! Not even Juan Williams corrected him on his ********. Then he and his pundits said Obama didn't deserve any credit anyways as it was Bush's policy (inaccurate) and waterboarding (unknown).

I can't help but think....for all their claiming of Obama politicizing this for going to Ground Zero yesterday...he invited Bush to be there (who graciously declined) and was there with Rudy Giuliani and Chris Christie. It was meant to be a healing moment for this country. While here they are turning what should be a subject that we have universal agreement on into a political "let's bash Obama" subject. It's ****ing unbelievable that they can't just have one subject where it's about being an American. I don't think even the left were upset with Bush after 9/11 and they weren't criticizing him on TV for going to Ground Zero and using his bullhorn. The right, at least on Fox, simply cannot give an inch of respect to this president and put partisanship away. And it's to the detriment of our country.

I was shocked at how petty and small these people were. If they can't say thank you now, they never will be able to accept this president or the concept that Americanism surpasses party politics. I am disgusted.

I totally get where you are coming from....that is one of the most frustrating things on this forum...people from other countries love to do the following...

*tell us how ignorant we are...
*tell us how isolated we are as far as media...
*tell us how we stick our noses into everything (which I agree with)
*tell us how we should run our country...

BUT, in most situations....what decisions are made here, more often than not have global implications.....BUT, the arrogance of some around here from other countries is getting annoying when telling us what we should do....so to that extent I agree...

I frequent another forum with a lot of people from other countries. Any thread on America I can't stand because that's basically all they do. They've even said America's involvement wasn't necessary to win WWII

I'm sick of those on the fringe left (Michael Moore) and fringe right (Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh) giving us normal people on the left and right (most of us Hypsters) a bad name. It's a shame the biggest idiots have the largest audiences. If Bush caught or killed Bin Laden, FOX would have been throwing celebrations for a month and questioning the patriotism of anyone who said what Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh have said on their respective programs.

Oh and one ironic point of hypocrisy: The slow recovery and the national economic struggles are entirely to blame on Obama and have nothing to do with Bush and yet killing bin Laden was entirely to Bush's credit and had nothing to do with Obama. This is what they believe. Literally, Obama is to blame for a recession that started in December 2007 and an economic collapse that exploded in September 2008 while Bush is responsible for an operation executed in May 2011 and that wasn't even beyond the intelligence and innuendo stage until August 2010.

It is ****ing ridiculous. I'm not saying Bush deserves no credit for bin Laden. He helped retool the intelligence community to fight terror and was dedicated to protecting America (albeit he became distracted by his ego-based war in Iraq, but that is another thread). And it is no secret the Obama Administration has struggled creating jobs. Though the fact that we avoided a depression is a credit to both Bush in the last months of 2008 and Obama at the beginning of 2009 putting policies in place that stopped the excessive bleeding (and in Obama's case saved an entire industry). But as the jobs report shows today, we are still struggling (the numbers of private sector growth point to an expanding and burgeoning economy, but they were still too small to stop the UE rate going back up to 9 percent).

But the way partisan hacks like the ones on Fox News report it is.....so stupid. And unfortunately, people listen to that instead of reality.

The people who don't want to give any credit to Obama for the success of the Bin Laden operation are the same people who would blast the hell out of him if the operation failed. Speaking of which, if the operation failed would they still be claiming Bush deserves all the credit?

The jobs report is weak, and not because of the higher unemployment rate. McDonald's hired 62,000 people in April. 25% of the new jobs in April are minimum wage jobs for a fast food company. And that's not taking into account the OTHER fast food jobs. These aren't the kind of jobs that cause people to start consuming more. These are the kind of jobs you take when you are desperate to simply pay the bills.

Since the CIA funded Bin Laden against the Russians, I'm sure the conspiracy theorists will charge that Al Qaeda is nothing more than an agent of the U.S. government. The irony, of course, is that a lot of the people going down these conspiracy rabbit holes with Obama in office are the same people that were in favor of hunting Al Qaeda in the first place. But since Bin Laden's death happened on the wrong guy's watch, they'll start going down the slippery slope of the rabbit hole. Once they do that, they'll have to start questioning the government's actions in the Bush administration.
