Breevort calls out Dan Slott.

Ya know something, in the Late CW thread I said that unless you WANT 60's through-80's MARVEL don't complain.
Unless you WANT a cut and paste story, don't complain.
The people that you SHOULD be *****ing about are the ones in charge of Shedualing.
I personally think the writers and Artists of todays comics should be given a standing ovation for putting out what they do in a short time.
Many of the titles out today should be Bi-monthly's just because of the work that goes into them.
just my opinion

No.

But don't worry. As empty as my dating life is, I won't have to worry about raising a family for a while.

But just remember, it only takes about 20 minutes to rectify that particular situation (or, as I've been told, 5 :O )

I am so hoping that Slott does not renew his exclusitivity contract with Marvel after all the s**t they have given him

I actually hope he stays, it seems Tom's rant worked and Dan is producing books on time.

But isn't it hypocritical to call out Slott for lateness yet justify the lateness of Civil War and all of it's tie-ins as a result

Honestly, I wouldn't give a damn if a fill-in artist handled an issue or parts of an issue to let McNiven catch up. He's a great artist but he shouldn't be the be-all and end-all of a big event. How the hell McNiven gave page 1 of issue 1 to Brevoort on January 3rd and is still in need of time to catch up now on a 7-issue mini-series is beyond me, but if he's really crawling along at such a slow pace, go for the damn fill-in or find a faster artist who can turn out comparable work. As great as some of the newer artists are, someone should be pushing the importance of developing the kind of old-school work ethic that allows them to get at least a single issue done in a month on them rather than coddling them endlessly like both of the big 2 are doing lately.

To tell you the truth they should just have teams of artists on every book. Because this late s**t is getting ridiculous.

Epting/Perkins.

Exactly, one of the many reasons why Cap rocks. Two artists that complement each other, switching off arc to arc. How much easier would that be if they did that with say, Civil War? One artist does one ish, while the other artist is doing the next one. Just make sure they're both good or at least have similar styles. Can't have McNiven and freakin Scottie Young on the same book.

Who would be a good complement to McNiven, though? He's got a fairly unique style. Eptings and Perkins both basically have the noir aesthetic--that is, they drench everything in shadow and their linework has a brushlike feel to it. McNiven's really the only person I can think of who draws like McNiven.

I saw this up on the Jinxworld forums, it got taken down quickly since it was Dan's personal board...

But Dan explained himself pretty well there in that newsarama post.

I think the quotes of Dan Slott people should be checking out is the interview that Bendis did with Slott. That was a great interview.

And also shows that Mr. Slott has a heavy interest in doing an ongoing Spider-Man title. :spidey:

Yeah, I cant think of anyone except for maybe JH Williams if he didnt drench everything in black.

He sounds much more concise when he's talking about the big fish, now don't he?

He raises a lot of good points, but some of them are off the mark. ULTIMATE SECRET was late because they yanked the artist so he could draw for NEW AVENGERS (a better selling title and Bendy gets his way), so they needed a fill-in. That was all THEIR choosing.

It's a thorny situation.

As for a "team" of artists, that's a great idea. So great that it would never happen. And no, 52 doesn't count because it's a weekly event series. It's a gimmick (albeit a good one to read).

Don't worry, I went to all my Sex-Ed classes and know about "protection". The world can't handle any little Dread's running around.

Plus, without getting personal, the Pope has a better sex life than I. :o

#4 still contains a death (with a big ol’ hole blown through somebody’s chest), a funeral, a fateful decision, and a team reborn. It’s also got Thor, obviously, and the lowdown on why he seems to be doing what he seems to be doing at the end of Civil War #3. And the rest of the big throwdown that started in issue #3.
damn laptop. havta retype this **** all out again. argh! can someone tell me if #4 is gonna be a longer issue? they should at least give us more bang for our buck and that's a lotta stuff to put in. i thought cw#3 felt short tbh

Brevoort pretty much said #4 is late because McNiven can't keep up with the monthly schedule. Asking him to draw more pages would be even more counterproductive to getting the book out, don't you think?

Then McNiven should have had a few issues done before the first one hit the stands.
