Transformers brief sexual humor, and language.

It was hilarious, and didn't make me go wtf....

When I was having sleep overs with my friends in the sunroom when we were thirteen or under my Mom would come in and ask, even if we were obviously watching Jurrasic Park or something, "were you boys watching porn?"

It seriously became extremely uncomfortable and- huh??? Territory.

And just for clarification, she still randomly asks me that!

My Dad and I always react the same as well, trying to maintain a distance or are extremely "wtf?" Lol. Even at dinner in public places sometimes she doesn't know what to and what not to say without accidentally going there. Lol.

Those parents were PERFECT depictions of your typical suburban parents, in my opinion. My parents are the same way.

Sam is being suspiciously vague about why he'd locked the door to his room (he was talking to the autobots in the back yard out his window) when his parents come up to check on him (after the power goes out)

After some questioning, Mom hesitantly asks him if he was *********ing and tells him it's okay if he was and he shouldn't feel ashamed. He and his dad react in horror...

I thought it was really funny, but it did make me also go "whoa wtf?"

oh that doesnt sound bad, just funny haha

Totally agree. My "wtf" was more about who thought of putting THAT in a TF film.

But the reason it was so funny is because it was horrifying accurate in it's discomfort level.

I guess I just took it in stride. It was clear she was drunk and just running her mouth.

Yeah, lol. I've always loved the parents since the leaked screenplay and the whole family set up because it was not Disney- it's the modern day family. I could relate to Sam in every way.

I'm not one of the people upset about the scene. Made me laugh too. Just saying I certainly see where some people might have thought it's inclusion to be a little out of line.

Um, a little bit of both... but, now a' days- I don't know about back then- Moms are like that. Trust me, it's especially bad out in public places sometimes. And my Mom isn't really a drinker.

There is a father & son line that most moms, I think, typically don't understand.

Moms have a way of brining up really uncomfertable things at the wrong time. I think if that is what people are having problems with they need to reavluate the movie.

17 Year old kid locks his bedroom door.......The natural thing for parents is to think of that....and according to the audience it was definetly funny.

EXACTLY. But like i've said, I feel Transformers should be viewed in the same way as Spider-Man. I'm happy Aunt May didn't ask Peter if he was *********ing when he had the lamp and everything tied up in webbing.

I know someone before said they already have the kids so they need to get the older audience. Why? Has Spider-Man and Pirates not broken all sorts of records?

Dammit, why didn't I say that earlier? Eh, i'm going to bed. :woot:

LMAO That would have been F'GGIN HILARIOUS. I'm imaging it now ROFL.

Aunt May: Peter, what are you doing in there...whats that sticky looking stuff on the wall...

ROFL

Does anyone have that comic page? Lol.

This thread is about obsessing over that 1 line. What a ridiculous thing to obsess about.

It was PG-13, sexual content is in the rating, parents who noticed it and were pissed at it after the film aren't smart.

It's not a G or PG movie for crying out loud.

Spider-Man movies have their share of sexual content. Not as bad, but still. Especially Spider-Man 3.

That scene didn't bother or offend me... and I have a kid. But, the length of it did. It turned what could have been a funny throway line that most young kids would miss into an American Pie moment.

Concur... when it got to "Sam's happy time" I was wincing a little.

I liked the humour in the film, I chuckled at it, but IMO, I think there was way too much humour. No big deal, though.

yeah this can be filed under being over-sensitive.

Once again I have to point out how Anakin was burned to a crisp in a pg13 star wars movie for kids, not even to mention the numerous decapitations and hand removals. And how Elliot said his brother had penis breath etc, face melting in raiders (that scared me senseless as a kid but I survived). This movie's very tame compared to that. Remember movie history folks.

Again..with..the..violence. Please, show me children who have giant robots.

I can show you plenty of kids who break ****; ever been to a Chuck E Cheese? This is another example of prude ass America prioritizing sex as more offensive than violence. One character SHANKING ANOTHER IN THE THROAT (Optimus - Bonecrusher) is way more offensive than a *********ion speech from a kid's parents. The movie is for everyone, you want it to be JUST for kids for some weird reason.

Yeah, but the thread defender would probably just say something to the effect of, "aGAIN with the violence argument...kids don't have lava pits, hand and head decapitators, little brothers who say penis breath or ark of the covenants".

In a movie where Scorponok killed a soldier by penetrating him thru his chest, I don't think a little sexual humor is a problem. This thread just goes to show that Americans think very little of violence and gore, but once you bring some sexuality to the table, even if it's just humor, some parents will have issue with that.

As for the language, there were a few borderline swear words but not overly so. And PG-13 should be allowed to have some of these, if they are not explicit. The bottom line is, this movie did not cross the PG-13 rating and those complains aren't warranted.

So a thread of less than 5 people complaining, and EVERYONE else telling them it's no big deal, is an indication that American's think it's a big deal?

Care to tell me how that was concluded, other than via pre-existing bias?

Meh. I remember when the Robocop toys came out. I was like huh? I loved Robocop but I was like wow that is one hell of a sadistic gory movie (the first one) to be making toys out of.

Not to mention the Jurassic Park toys with chunks you could bite off.
:woot:

This movie is way tame in comparison.

It's just an observation from my experience surfing the message forums where people discussed about movies. Not just TF, but there are other PG-13 films that have some sexual humors or situations that got complains from posters who saw them and think they are inappropriate. And complains about sex far outnumbered the violence, which suggested that people really do consider sex to be a more serious problem in the entertainment industry than violence.
