You're right. First Class was terrible. Singer needs to gtfo.
Millar said The Wolverine was Year Zero, the equivalent of Iron Man, which suggests they want to move forward and not stay in the past.
as marvelrobbins said, if that treatment Bryan did about X4 connecting with X5 that Fox loved so much is the reason we're having DOFP, they could easily see this sequel as a bridge between x-men prequels and upcoming sequels set in present, with that X5 coming next.
First Class would never have been made without Singer.Singer didn't direct First Class and you're right, he does need to gtfo.
I see no lies.so true
so glad the father has returned, and more than likely to stay for a long time

When will Singer stop ruining X-Men films? He's a lousy director and not even half as talented as Vaughn.
First Class would never have been made without Singer.
X2 is the best X-Men movie, the more balanced and best characters.
^not really i love first class but x2 is vastly superior
and Vaughn hasn't made anything close to the usual suspects
Xmen first class explored the relationship between charles and eric and eric wanting his revenge on shaw which i personally think it was done very well, very engaging stuff, but the other Mutants maybe didn't get enough to do but its was still a great film =)
X-men 2 is a great film also though =)
Yes X2 was the best...most people agree on this.
I think though that the trouble with this scenario is that the dark!future in DoFP can't really link up to whatever sequel in the present there might be in the works. By the end of DoFP that dark!future either ceases to exist altogether, or it just goes on while an alternate timeline without Sentinels is created by changing the past. So in either scenario, there's no flow from DoFP!future to X5!future, and the characters we meet in X5 will not really be the same characters as in DoFP, but more like their alternate versions.
I'd think that if they did want to introduce (or re-introduce) the characters for the sequels set in the present, Wolverine would be a more logical choice. Seeing that it's set after X3 and particularly if Wolverine himself is set to appear in those future sequels as well.
Yeah, he only wrote it, produced it, helped cast it, and came up with the entire idea.He still didn't direct the film.
