Days of Future Past Bryan Singer Directing X-Men: Days of Future Past - Part 6

I like this quote the most.
“It’s an original story, but it’s based on ‘Days of Future Past,’” explained Mr. Singer. “It takes into account all of the films so far and doesn’t go crazy trying to tie them together, but establishes a timeline and flushes out the universe.”

I'm going to end up chuckling to myself when certain fans possibly flip out because the film might not fix continuity issues. Luckily I don't have that problem since I don't have XO: Wolverine or X3 in my movie collection. As far as Im concerned, it's X1, X2 and First Class...possibly the new Wolverine movie since it sounds and looks a lot better than the previous one.

But how, with First Class and Origins Wolverine being so contradictory to the trilogy and apparently to the Wolverine?

Frankly, this feels almost impossible to achieve. And trust me, nothing would please me more than to get X-Men back on track. Anyone who knows me knows I was hardcore about this franchise during Singer's initial two films and damn near had a stroke when Singer was not brought back for the third and the behind the scenes nonsense that got leaked online.

I just don't see how they can pull this off.

There's no way everything can be fixed perfectly to please the fans without throwing up a whole new batch of questions. But maybe they can fix some of the major ones and we'll just have to accept the rest.

Right there with you. I'd be estatic if this pays no attention to the events of TSL at all so I can continue to ignore it. I'd say the same for XOW but it's clear that everyone is trying to sweep that under the rug already.

The people that complained that First Class ruined continuity because in X-men 3 it showed Xavier and Magneto recruiting Jean Grey as one of their first mutants, I ignore X3 so I have no problems with continuity right now.

Same with that nod for the fans where Henry McCoy(Beast)was on TV at the bar in X2, but he was still in human form. As far as I'm concerned, that was only a little nod for the fans and I don't believe that really should be considered as messing up the timeline.

Maybe he was using a cloking device to appear human for the debate.

I've always had an :whatever: on hand whenever someone would talk about this film magically fixing the continuity errors throughout the series. I'm pretty sure throwing time-travel into the mix would only make it more muddled and ****ed up. People need to just accept the fact that this movie is happening for the purposes of telling it's own story, NOT fixing the problems of the last six movies.

That's possible but I have a good feeling that Singer only threw that in as a cool nod for the fans and nothing to really build on. All depends on what he had in store for his own version of X-men 3 before he left.

Your probably right, Shaw was there as well (which is kind hard to do considering tht he got a Nazi quarter driven through his head in FC). I was just throwing an idea out there (it's fun).

Yeah, that's true. But people see First Class and think that Xavier and Magneto and Mystique are overexposed character because they were so well developed in that film. But for the most part, that was the first time those character were front and center.

And as if those three were underused in the original trilogy.

Professor X was the leader of the X-Men in the 1st movie, had a very prominent role in X2 and even if he was killed early in X3, he still had a big role and impact in the movie, the movie even started and ended with him. In Origins, he had a very notable cameo.

Magneto was the main antagonist in X1/X3. And even if he wasn't the lead villain in X2, he was the one who defeated Stryker and he had a big role in the movie.

Mystique, though her screentime in the original trilogy was very reasonable. I feel like she's just not that important to appear in more than 5 films. She's not even one of the X-Men.

Mystique is a classic x-men villain (probably top five or six). She's been both an enemy and ally in the past. She has frequently been a mastermind to rival or even surpass Magneto (she's more cunning and calculated than him). To say that Mystique is not important is an insult to her character.

No one is talking about her history in the comic-books.

We are talking about their roles in the movie, Mystique will be appearing in five movies next year and I think thats enough. Its time to make room for new villains and undeveloped X-Men members.

Lets just agree to disagree (she was a member of the x-men in FC).

Yes there were. Just because they weren't referred to as X-Men does not mean they weren't/ :whatever:

You two are taking too literally if you think X-Men was formed because they wore blue and yellow costumes.

And the word "X-Men" was only brought up when Moira talked to Xavier about opening the school.

They were a group of mutants helping the government to track down Sebastian Shaw.

A word/name does not need to be uttered once for a character to be that word/name.

By your logic Anne Hathaway never played Catwoman.

I think you're taking it too literally if you think they all have to hold hands in a circle and shout "YEAH, WE'RE THE X-MEN!!" for them to be the X-Men.

This is as bad as people saying Ellen Page was Kitty Pryde but not Shadowcat. :csad:

Or that Superman wasn't really Superman since he was only called that once in MOS.

Characters and superhero teams are different.

Selena Kyle will always be Catwoman even if they didn't mention her alias in the movie. Same with Kitty Pryde.

But X-Men? Just because we saw Charles Xavier working with a couple of mutants, it doesn't automatically mean they are already the X-Men.

You mean working with mutants who have mostly been X-Men when on a team.
Beast, Banshee, Havok, Prof X, Magneto, Moira, Mystique.

All have been and will always be known as or part of the X-Men. Your logic is heavily flawed.

Said logic is beyond flawed.

The name of the movie was X-MEN First Class. The team was founded and led by Charles Xavier. Their base of operations was Xavier's mansion in upstate NY. They had the blue and yellow costumes from the comics. They were fighting the Hellfire Club. Banshee, Beast, and Havok were all on the team. They were the X-Men, whether they were called that or not.

So Moira was one of the X-Men now

If they weren't called the X-Men in the movie, they aren't the X-Men.
