Days of Future Past Bryan Singer Directing X-Men: Days of Future Past - Part 6

It's like it should have been more exciting than Nightcrawler's White House scene with Azazel teleporting and dropping guys down from the guy... but it just wasn't. Just didn't feel nearly as intense for me as the X2 scene did

Hell, even the X1 Erik scene where he was taken from his parents had more of an impact on me than the entire extended Nazi sequence that Vaughn came up with for FC's beginning.
My favorite scene in all the X-Men films is Erik/Charles vs. Shaw. Nothing has been quite that intense for me. Completely draws me in every time.

Yea awesome scne, its Charles trying to make eric the "Better man" and he pretty much says I'm gonna kill this nut.

not only that, but Charles in fact ended helping Erik to kill another person.

It was a really great scene.

I agree on both those, Its just Seeing Eric hunting nazis and cut loose and Charles not be kidnapped or knocked out and all the James bond esque stuff was awesome.
lol! That did always tend to happen to Charles. Hilarious. I do think that stuff you mentioned was indeed awesome, and FC had a vibrancy that the Singer X-films were lacking.

I thought it was interesting how Shaw had involuntarily molded Erik into a monster, but I was "meh" on the coin death.

Yep. I love all the little bits. The slow moving coin, Erik destroy the room, the use of the lose wire to grab the helmet, every little expression on Charles face... great scene.

Now, that I can completely agree with.

Agreed. One of my absolute favorites.

I like how Erik and Shaw agreed with each other ideologically completely. The only reason that they're enemies is that Shaw was a dick and killed Erik's mother right in front of him.

Charles was like... "A penny for your thoughts."

The symbolism of the coin was fantastic and present on several different levels.

Was Havok related to Scott in any way, I don't think that the movie made that very clear one way or the other?

They are not related unless they address it. And right now, they haven't.

well in first class they call him alex summers which shows they were not trying to hide any relation

and also they made havoks power red like cyclops which i think was mean't to show some relation

singer did say there was an obvious connection between alex and scott

Maybe he's an uncle or an unusually older brothers (it does happen).

yes, Im sure they planed to make the connection since day one, so those details were the introduction lets say, and maybe Singer wants to finally reveal it on this movie, or... in the next one.

In any case, Im sure he will do it, so I just hope he does it with class and in a good way.

It will be addressed at some point (they called him Summers for a reason). I was just surprised that it wasn't touched on at all in FC.

Ironic, I watch FC thinking "Bryan Singer would have done this better" :wow::oldrazz:

Haha me too.

Not high octane action anyway, he can do low key action scenes though.

That's because Singer can't really shoot action to save his life.

Nightcrawler's attack scene was not high octane action? Magneto's escape from plastic prison? Mystique infiltrating Stryker's base? Wolverine vs. Lady Deathstrike? :o

No when the Hellfire club attacked department X is superior to anything from X1 or X2.

Except the X-kids' bad acting completely ruined that scene. Even Jen Lawrence was bad in that scene. Banshee's fake heavy breathing is pretty laughable. Havok's surprised look when his and Darwin's power doesn't work, not the best acting either.

Hell, even the X1 Erik scene where he was taken from his parents had more of an impact on me than the entire extended Nazi sequence that Vaughn came up with for FC's beginning. I still can't get over how cheesy and cringe-inducing Erik's "NEEEEEEEEEEEIN!!" moment was after his mom was killed.

So true. There's a lot of unplanned hilariously bad moments in FC. Fassbender trying to move the satellite dish with his magic fingers. :csad: Again, back to "Bryan Singer would have done this better"

The only great action scenes in FC are the Cuba scenes. Sorry but FC has nothing on X2. It will forever remain the second best x film.

I couldn't shake the feeling that Singer would have done First Class better either. It was perfectly demonstrated in the first few minutes, as the prison camp scene Vaughn lifted directly from X-Men was far more powerful than the cheesy "niiiiine" sequence that followed. Hard to tell whether it was Vaughn or the tight schedule, but a lot of that film felt a bit flat visually, and the dialogue was bordering on camp too often.

The final 45 minutes of that movie are intense.

Intensely boring.

Action and roster wise it's no contest. X2 owns. I really didn't like the action in FC or some of the characters they threw in. But as far as character development I found Prof X and Magneto in FC to be the best of the series. FC remains my favorite X film for that reason. The performances by Mcavoy and Fassbender where really top notch. I also thought the tone of FC was more suiting to the comics, I think that is due in part to Vaughn. So I'm glad he Directed and gave the series a different vibe from the other films. They needed that.

I can agree with that. I actually find it funny that people consider Xavier one of the overexposed characters, like Wolverine, yet First Class was the FIRST time he was a lead player with character development.
