Buffy the Vampire Slayer - 10 years later: the reunion at the Paley Festival

I didn't mind Kennedy, however I really needs someone a lot more humble to be her partner, but some people did say she was only hot for Tara and Kennedy, does no one remember the episode when Amy and Willow were at The Bronze, Amy pointed out Willow checking out girls, so I would say from that she does worship the furry chalice, no ifs, ands or buts. :o

P.S - Nice euphemism for lesbian huh.

not to mention when she was on angel during buffy's last season she was interested in fred, and later played it off as "ooo i already am dating someone" when clearly she showed interest in fred

Great scene. Fred/Willow wouldnt have been bad, helluva lot better than that b**** Kennedy. I was glas when Faith put her in her place.

Kennedy just came too soon and rubbed people the wrong. And the lack of chemistry.

What I mean to say is I don't really buy Willow's homosexuality and I think the writers sort of pigeon-holed her as a lesbian because that's what the fanbase wanted, rather than be a little more realistic given the characters history. She was with Tara for the same reasons she was with Oz, they had a special connection. It wasn't really about her being attracted to women. That's another reason I thought her relationship with Kennedy was weak. They didn't have a connection, and it felt contrived. Especially considering Willows lover died sometime earlier in the year. If Willow needed anything it was her friends, and both she and the audience were deprived of that bond in season 7.
I can buy her being bisexual, but come on, her relationship to Tara "wasn't really about her being attracted to women"? So, she just slipped and fell face-first into Tara's vagina all those times they had sex? If you're in a romantic relationship with someone, you're attracted to that person. Tara's a woman, ergo Willow can be, has been, and is attracted to women. I don't see the purpose of splitting hairs on the definition of lesbianism.

As for Kennedy, that's life. Not every relationship is a perfect storybook romance. I'm not placing Kennedy on a level comparable to Tara or even Oz, but it's obvious that Willow was attracted to her and just resisted at first because of the things you mentioned.

Anyway, they're broken up as of season 8, so who cares? Kennedy's a thing of the past.

I personally think Kennedy was just the kind of person Willow needed at the time. I think people just have a problem with her because she's not Tara, period.

kennedy was willow's happy ending . i have no problem with it . I feel the last season was rushed .

I wouldn't go that far. It was a relationship but I didn't see anything that would make me believe that Willow was deeply in love with her.

it was too soon really for her to move on.i think there should of been eight seasons of buffy with a more fleshed out ending .

I didn't really like Season 7 as I felt it really alienated the 'straight' male fanbase and went overly about female empowerment. But female empowerment is a big part of the show so I suppose if you take that into account Buffy got the right ending. The only highlights for me were Faith and Spike.

Angel on the other hand, had 2 seasons left in it. To invest in Angels story like they did and to not properly address the prophecy really peed me off.

lol, Willow didn't suddenly start craving vag and checking out chicks after Oz dumped her. And aside from the VampWillow one off comment, there was no precedent for any gayness on Willow's part. What was the clear is that Willow bonded with Tara first and it developed into a sexual attraction afterward. The fact that she was a chick wasn't the basis of their relationship. That's why I don't think it rings true that she's "just gay" now. Tara could've easily been a dude.

I don't see the purpose of splitting hairs on the definition of lesbianism.
The purpose is to express a criticism about the show and the portrayal of a character, just like any other criticism about the show. No ones having a cow.

and it didn't work out.:o

Anyway, they're broken up as of season 8, so who cares? Kennedy's a thing of the past.

So are Tara, Riley, Anya, Jenny Calendar,...etc:huh:

Just because Willow didn't realize she was into girls before doesn't mean she's bi or willing to go straight again either. Tara was the door that made Willow realize what she was, and when with Tara Willow became very much less insecure about herself. Willow (after tara) has shown no attraction to boys... and Kennedy and her episode with fred further proves that. I'm gay, came out after high school, realized now that i've known i was gay for quite a long time... but i still had a girlfriend in high school.

^^really was there a guy for willow to be attracted to?

Its very clear she still loves Oz, what form that love takes is debatable. When he is mentioned in season 6 by Xander Willow clearly reacts. I don't think its as cut and dry for her as with other people. Everyone's experience is different

that too.. but willow wouldn't be the first gay or lesbian person to have dated a member of the opposite sex.... nearly every gay guy or lesbian i know has dated someone of the opposite sex... as a first relationship.

-hell i dated a girl
-my best friend's bf dated a girl and didnt come out till a year ago (hes 25)
-my cousin's a lesbian and has dated a handful of guys and was even engaged to a friend of mine before she came out

willow use to be very insecure... and seemed sorta shocked with the vampire willow lesbianism.. not a shock as in "omg i hope i don't become one" but more of a "o god, my curiosity might be more then what i think it is", i think it was completely in character and in the realm of believability for willow... buffy on the other hand i have a hard time stomaching...

you also never forget a first love... and u'll always have some feelings for them. thats always a big deal. But doesnt mean willow would ever hookup with a guy again... she seems pretty clearly to only have eyes for girls now, shes more confident and very in tune to who she is now, her hooking up with a guy would be as needless as buffy hooking up with a girl was. and a step back in her progression as a character.

loads of stuff has made youtube including the moment SMG learnt about the gay encounter buffy recently had. Seth Green filling her in was great, it seems they stayed pretty tight throughout the night.

I agree that she became less insecure with Tara, but what was was(I think of a more grammatically correct way of putting it) a straight woman. That was abundantly clear. She just happened to develop feelings for another woman. It's not as if Willow was hiding anything or denying her "true self". She fell in love with Tara because they had a connection not because she had a vagina.

Willow (after tara) has shown no attraction to boys...
which I find hard to believe. Again, once Willow went lez the writers probably felt it would be a betrayal to gay fans to have her be attracted to men. I don't see why she'd stop. I think she pretty much defies the gay from birth argument.

and Kennedy and her episode with fred further proves that.
Kennedy asked her when she started being attracted to girls, and Willow answers "It wasn't girls, it was a girl."

The Fred moment, and hell even the Him episode were hilarious, but I remain unconvinced.:o

k, but that was your experience. There was nothing to indicate that Willow had been gay before Tara. I think to say that kind of cheapens her relationship with Oz.

you musn't know many gay people then... :o and it only cheapens when u concentrate on gay or straight.. which ur doing. i dont think her and Oz's relationship is cheapened at all by her turning lesbo

ps and yes sometimes it takes 1 person, one love to make you go gay... but it wouldnt work if you already didnt have a little bit of a tendency

Too much indepth analysis on the gay stiff in Buffy if you ask me.

It is what it is...

Meh, hearing what spideyboy is saying is giving me an insight into what Willow might have been feeling so I don't find.

On a seperate note, watching S3 on TV again and I can't believe how young Eliza Dushku looks. She looks about 15 in her debut episode!:wow:

Do you have the YT link? I'd like to see that

edit n/m found it

Indeed

The moment she put on that dress that the Mayor gave her......hmmmmm yes.

I just remembered since you guys mention ED they've casted some more people for that "the Doll House" show, including some dude of BSG. :o

Not especially well, but I've known a few.:o
And I'm not focusing on gay or straight, I think the show is, when in the context of the show and her character it'd make more sense that she was bi. She had the rooster once and then she never even thinks of going back?pfft.:o

lol, everything is undercut in the show. I'm not sure how well delivered the whole female empowerment message was when they make a point of having Spike save the world, with a magical plot device delivered to her by Angel. Not to mention the body count on the show (as far as main characters) is clearly slanted towards the wimmens.

She showed attraction to Dracula after turning gay.

And she didn't even want to turn him into a woman.

Ha ha yeah.:oldrazz: But I think that that was simply about Spike finding redemption, not really about 'heroic male saves the day'.

Oh and nice observation about Dracula Matt!
