Burnout Paradise - Driving to pefection

The Party Pack includes a new multiplayer mode designed for offline hot-potato play with up to eight players. A few fixes are also included that should have longtime Paradise players cheering. A restart option is finally being added so players that fail a race have the option to skip back to the starting line and give it another go. Criterion has long defended its decision to exclude the common restart function, but acquiesced to the demands of its fanbase. PS3 owners gain access to the Burnout Paradise Network, a live feed where players can keep track of friends and read up on the latest Burnout news from Criterion.
:wow:

Awesome. 2/05/09, baby, woo! Criterion is a great developer, and I guess we can thank EA and it's clout for giving us this stuff for free.

Cool. It doesn't bother me that you can't immediately restart the same race since, more often than not, there's a reverse race that starts at the finish line right there, so you can just start that one up instead.

It's just great that stuff like that is being added to the game, in addition to free cars.

Yeah, I'm glad they're listening to the fanbase. The best way to turn people against you is to ignore them after they've spent their hard-earned money on your product.

Online is fun, though I don't like when the host lets everyone pick their car, because it leaves the people who are early in the game at a huge disadvantage. Also everyone gives the finger when they get their picture taken.

That's a great news. Finally I can restart a race I've lost instead of having to go back to the beginning. Criterion is a terrific developer that listens to the gamers, and I wish more devs will follow suit.

I haven't played online at all. I should try it tonight.

I only did it once. It was fun, I am definitely going to do it again soon.

I've realized about myself that I don't enjoy Night Time in any game. Fallout, Spider-man 3, GTA, Burnout, anything with a day/night cycle, I love playing during the day but do whatever I can to avoid playing at night.

What happens when they wanted to take your picture but you don't have that webcam addon for your 360?

THANK GOD there is a restart option. Now they need to add the option to make the crash came optional bc it can get annoying at times

The cam takes too long sometimes. I still think Burnout 3 had the best crash cams.

Okay, I've changed my mind. I'll be very happy for that restart option. I've been trying to stupid Fastback's Burning Route for the past hour and I keep crashing and realizing I'm not gonna make it in time halfway across that stupid bridge between the islands, and then I have to go all the way back to the stupid start of the Burning Route over and over again. The Fastback Special better have improved handling, 'cause the thing maneuvers like a piece of s***. :cmad:

Ok, so The Party Pack is the fist "premium" DLC for this game, meaning you have to pay for it. However, the restart function as well as some other updates will be available through a free patch the same day.

Hey there. Another huge day here at Criterion Games!

We're finally ready to bring you the dates for 3 forthcoming Burnout offerings, and they're just a few weeks away!

On Friday 6th Feb, we'll release the Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box.

Since the launch of the award-winning Burnout Paradise, 2008s Driving Game of the Year, we've spent a year bringing you the greatest support ever to the game, with the introduction of multiple game modes, cars, PlayStation 3 Trophies, challenges, weather, night time and motorcycles. See more in our Available Packs area.

The Ultimate Box brings together all this free content and also includes our first premium content - Burnout Paradise Party Pack. It's an unbeatable package for new players and also for all you players without an online-enabled console.

The game will be in stores in Europe and Asia-only on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and available world wide on PC on 6th February. That's right, The Ultimate Box will give PC players their first opportunity to sample Burnout Paradise.

For existing Burnout fans, the big news today is that we can reveal that our Party Pack will be out on 5th Feb. This is our first premium pack. It'll be available to buy from the PlayStation Store or our own sparkling new in-game Burnout store.

And finally, for all those of you that aren't ready to part with your hard-earned cash just yet, comes the great news that on the 5th Feb, we'll be giving Burnout Paradise yet another barrage of FREE improvements, with a massive free update.

We'll bring you full details over the coming days, but this overhaul to the game includes the introduction of our all-new in-game website and awesome in-game store. We've also worked on changes to game modes, visuals, the entire vehicle dynamics system. Oh, and we've added a restart !

Look out for the next episode of our video podcast - Crash TV. The gang will be on hand to discuss all these changes and more.

I really hope its no more than $10. Burnout is the type of game though that Id buy all DLC bc it really is a fun game and anything to extend its replay value is awesome. Glad Criterion seems dedicated to doing just that

The Party Pack is something I probably won't buy, I wouldn't ever use it. I will definitely buy Big Surf Island though, and am glad the restart function isn't restricted to the Party Pack.

On their website it mentions a "Premium Pack" to be announced at a later date. I'm wondering if this is some sort of DLC bundle.

"Premium Pack" is the new term for DLC that you have to pay for. Fable 2 recently released new DLC and there was a free download and a premium download. The free was basically just a game patch that let you play with someone who bought the premium, the premium was the actual content.

Ah OK. Thanks for clearing that up. Not sure know whether I'll get any DLC other than the Island.

I am a fan of this game. I'm finally getting the hang of the routes and such, I am like 12 wins away from the Burnout license and I've done all the burning routes for all the cars I have. .

I totally just got through the Annihilator Burning Route by driving back and forth, carefully mapping out the shortest possible route. I need the X12 and the Touge Burning Routes and that's it.

The Party Pack and Free update are out now. The free update changes the entire starting menu system, changes some graphics in-game, fixes some car handling, adds the in-game store, and the restart feature is now a reality. :woot: Time to work towards that Elite license.
