How bad was it during TDKR? I missed it lol

The had to shut down comments on Rotten Tomatoes and send open letters to subscribers because reviewers were getting physical threats. Truly nasty stuff. Never seen anything like it outside of Gamergate

I find this to be so strange. I absolutely love TDK trilogy which are my three favorite comic book films, yet I cannot wait to see this new interpretation of Batman! Based on everything I've seen and heard, Affleck owns the role. Four years ago I never understood the concept of "Nolanites" but I am really starting to.

Yeah, every new thing we learned about the Nolan movies, mainly the first two, people kept talking how it wasn't as good as Burton/Keaton's interpretation, and it was infuriating that some people couldn't accept that something could be different and still be good, or maybe even better if you give it a chance. And if you pointed out that the Burton films had flaws too, they would totally fly off the handle. Suddenly everybody was either a Burtonite or a Nolanite.

I used to have a signature that said, "Burtonite, Nolanite...I'm a Batmanite!"

Still not over the #BVSPremiere. Still so giddy. Im totaaaaallllyy going to be seeing this again

Quote:
Affleck's dark and broody Batman made his first official outing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice this evening.

[mild redaction]

And while that might sound dramatic, his psychological breakthrough is nothing compared to the action-packed fight sequences that make up this three hour epic.

The intensity of the insanely long film is achieved with special effects, plot twists, geeky references and the volume being turned up to eleven from start to finish.

While die-hard DC Comic devotees might be punching the air as the Justice League are teasingly introduced, the average film fan may be left scratching their head.

Overall Zac Snyder's Batman v Superman blockbuster is an emotionally charged punch-up — but it's newcomer Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman who really steals the show.

It happened during TDK too. "We were at 98% until you ***holes showed up!!!"

If the worst that we have to worry about is that BvS is a very sophisticated film geared for CBM fans (which may require repeat viewings to fully appreciate) that is still action-packed and incredibly exciting, and has superb performances, then I should think all is well. :woot:

nolan fanboys are awful

I resemble that remark! :oldrazz:

BvS reactions can't possibly be any worse, because we've already seen the lowest of the low on Twitter and social media in defense of the movie.

The film's been unfairly criticized, imo, and some fans have gone to the dark side in response. It's usually the same guys over and over, though, making themselves look more representative of the whole than reality.

Positive vibes towards BvS will alleviate a lot of anxiety. Already, you could practically see this entire forum sigh in relief tonight.

A lot of people don't even realize, that's exactly how it all started. I'm convinced that the term "Nolanite" was coined on these very forums, because of the Nolanite/Burtonite wars. And you're right, nobody was innocent there. (I was a lurker back in those days but I remember it all too well)

Same goes for the people who have pounding down the Snyder Kool-Aid for the past few years while bashing Nolan. I really do think it's the DC way, sadly, for people to go past fandom into the realm of religious devotion. But it's all pretty damn silly when you think about it. :funny:

No idea if Scott Mendelson watched it or not...

Fixed.

Yea that part is interesting..

To be fair at the moment the GA need mind numbingly linear storytelling to keep track of a narrative. Anything vaguely resembling something a little sharper is seen as confusing.

It's definitely looked at as a DC fan thing and/or Batman fan thing, not a Nolan fan thing. If I had a nickel for everytime I heard "Batman fans are the worst." I just keep hoping the fanbase will stop going off the rails with regular movie watchers cause it's really not helping regulate comics culture with mainstream folks.
