Yep, middling reviews, and reviews that say good but not great will also be viewed as an attack/reason to panic and declare the movie the biggest failure in cinematic history. Unless things go really, really well of course. Will be interesting to see reactions coming out of non-premiere screenings. Of course, at the end of it all the only opinion anyone should care about is their own.

Well as a fan of DC things I'd hate to see rational people thinking DC fans are the Donald Trump fans of the comics/movie world. Especially since TDKR and MOS backlash isn't old enough to be forgotten

Yep. And I wish I could say it's just a bunch of kids but there's an embarrassing amount of 20-30-40 somethings who have zero civility or social grace. Or logic comprehension.

Anyway, this is the only reason I keep circling back to say "keep expectations in check from premiere/fan screenings" because when both critical and GA reactions come in I hate seeing the complete deconstruction of people's mentalities. It's why I take year long breaks from the hype.

It's asinine to compare BvS with Nolan's Bat-movies, since it's basically a team-up movie. If they really want to compare ...then, they should wait for next solo Affleck-Batman movie and then compare it with Nolan's Bat movies.


BvS is not a solo Superman movie or a solo Batman movie, it's a team-up movie and we cannot compare it with any other past DC movies.

Ohhh...is that what is the HYPO critics are going,to do?

Compare this film, to the Nolan films and than look,for reasons to give bad ratings to BvS?

....but I'm not going to allow any of their reactions dictate how I feel about the movie. If that was the case, then I wouldn't have LOVED Man of Steel so much.

People excited or bummed about the outcome is one thing, and I genuinely get pumped or deflated judging by responses, but what you can't lose is the ability to be a self thinker. If you lose that, then all credibility goes out the window.

Honestly, I will forget about every single reaction this thread has to offer the moment I step into and out of the theater Thursday Night. It will be an entire new ball game at that point and I probably wouldn't be able to recite one reaction that went on tonight.

I wish I could go back to being a blissful GA. MoS was an incredible, visceral experience because I wasn't tangled in this world of surgical speculation and judgement of everything.

But you're right, once I head into the theatre and get sucked in the world of the movie I will forget everything else....and hopefully be amazed again. I want that MoS afterglow sensation running through me.

This movie to perfectly sum up what its like is IM1 + the Dark knight trilogy.

I don't think it's just DC fans, though. The things I see from fans of all things are pretty rotten, Marvel enthusiast included. I think it's large part to due with people poking and instigating DC fans through these last few years because of Man of Steel and TDKRises being the last TWO movies in the DC vault when other studios are pumping them out left and right. That has a major impact on the way things are being handled by fans.

That's completely erroneous. Today, tonight, DC/Bat/Supes/whatever you want to define them as fans have begun picking quarrels with the first batch of regular moviegoers to see this movie. And it's setting a precedent. Hunting down people to crap on their (mostly positive) reaction to a movie you HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN YET is atrocious and childish behavior and it makes ALL Dc fans look bad. Rise above, don't contribute or try to justify it.

Then when they get the backlash they were looking for now they have something to point to about how awful DC fans are.

I'm not trying to justify any of it. That's about the last thing I want to do, especially since how most fanboys on social media, especially on Facebook and wherever a fight is about to brew over the tiniest of things, makes me embarrassed to be a comic book fan.

Just like MoS was subconsciously compared to Donner films so will BvS to Nolan. What you "grow up on" can never be replaced. Frankly I find the Nolan movies unwatchable, they feel almost as comicy as the Schumacher ones now. Bale's Batman is pretty weak sauce.

Devin is a product of his environment. He only acts the way he does because people respond to it. I guarantee 9 out of 10 people on this board who express how much they "haaaaate" him stalk his social channels and site looking for his reaction to stuff, to then criticize. Then they get rabid tunnel vision and apply that same methodology to anyone else they see. It's baffling
