C-SPAN ranks the Presidents

Not agreeing with the Reagan ranking myself. He seemed to get a bit of a reputation boost after his death but I'm sure that will go down over time.

Meh, putting aside partisan politics, I think the list is fair. However, I'm surprised JFK is so high. #6. Is image more important than accomplishment?

Based purely on influence I'd say #6 is about right. But they did break it down into several different sub-sections, and JFK didn't always rank so high in those.

Paradoxium's Top 3 WORST Presidents of the 20th Century in no particular order:

Woodrow Wilson

Franklin D. Roosevelt

Lyndon B. Johnson

Bonus: Richard Nixon (very close in the 3 worst, for his one action alone: closing the gold window), and also disgusted at how Reagan "talked" like Libertarian-Conservative but in his action were the contrary.... but these other three failed harder.

I love revisionist history where suddenly Roosevelt, Wilson, and Johnson are worse Presidents than Harding, Hoover, and Carter.

I have an propensity to lens things economically. And more importantly, the names you cited, was considered. I do consider Hoover in the same vein economically as FDR, just certain things FDR did made it even worse.

But of course Paradoxium's two cents is revisionist history :whatever:

He did nail Marilyn Monroe.

Well, Wilson was a fascist.

Not saying you are not entitled to your opinion. I'm just saying your opinion makes me less likely to take you seriously when you rank them above the names I mentioned.

It just irks me. I've lived on the east coast and in the midwest. I'm pretty sure the ratio of *******s were pretty much the same.

And being that close to Washington, I'm positive you are also surrounded by *******s.

Bah. Don't pay any attention. It's just a peeve of mine.

I think the LBJ's Great Society was a failure and a huge hinderance to our economy, although I'll give him credit for Civil Rights Movement of 1964. Wilson's interventionist foriegn policy would make Theodore "Carry a Big Stick" Roosevelt blush. I'm not a fan of FDR, but I'll leave him alone since he helped us win World War II.

Maybe I'm just dense, but for the life of me I can not figure out what word you are bleeping out.

I've been to Birmingham and Memphis, and I witnessed less ignorance and discourtesy in those cities than I did Dallas or Houston. Sorry for disagreeing with your perception of Texas culture in a completely unrelated thread over a month ago. Sue me.

I agree with Paradoxium on Wilson...Wilson was pretty bad......he's rated high because of his role in World War I, but he was racist, arrogant prick who felt it was his job to influence everyone else's decisions and control everyone's life. I'd rank him near the bottom, frankly...but that's just my two cents.

Seems like only yesterday.

If there was an anti-heaven, Eastern Texas would be it. At least, as far as my own personal travels go, that's what I've experienced.

An unfortunate mark, yes, but no worse than the Patriot Act.
