Watching the new trailer. I WAS RIGHT!!! This is James Cameron's Pocahontas IN SPACE!

Just watch. Jake gets shot and has to be taken back to Earth/England.
Oh and Christian Bale makes an uncredited appearance (look it up)

The themes mirror the European Incursion into the Americas, and the wiping out of the native indigenous culture to claim the land and minerals.

But if your thinking Disney's Pocahontas, knock yourself out. I'm sure it's a bit more deeper than that, but whatever...

I really don't get the parallels to previous stories as somehow being a bad thing. There are VERY few movies you can't tie back to a folklore, myth, or classic novel.

Plus the whole thing being in the FUTURE and on ANOTHER PLANET kinda turns the whole thing on it's head, don't you think?

I just searched a whole lot of working links via twitter.

exactly. it's hard to find a story that is TOTALLY original now-a-days. almost all forms of art is inspired by something else, that's why there is the saying 'art imitates life'.

thanks for the tip. can't wait to see the HD version!!!

well it isnt so far-fetched beucase scientist and Astronomers have seen earth-like planets in other galaxies. plus the movie takes place in another 100 years or so

Hell, there were once two Earth-like planets in our Solar System:

I saw on TV once that millions of years ago, Mars was an Earth-like planet before it became what it is known for today as a red planet. It's been mentioned that Mars has features that look like rivers of water once flowed.

As in inhabitable? No they haven't.

maybe not other galaxies, but scientists have spotted Earth-like planets around other stars.

I must have already watched the trailer at least 15 times.

It's just too ****ing good.

While I'm sure there are characters in the film who inquire why they couldn't just peacefully obtain the resources underneath their homeland, it's obvious Cameron is making it a throwback to those military types that prefer to extend the bayonet as opposed to the olive branch.

look it up man, and also recently they have found 32 planets just outside of our solar system

And yet in our very own Solar System, Pluto was downgraded from a planet and we have yet to find a supposed "Planet X."

Speculative. It even says at the end of the article that they have yet to find one that has life (aka inhabitable).

Has there ever been a large-case scenario where the bigger guy didn't take things by force or ripped them off? :funny:

Most of the exoplanets found have been gas giants like jupiter and saturn. Scientists find exoplanets by looking at the woblle of the star caused by a large planet's gravitional pull on the star.

This trailer is amazing.

And that's not even the Avatard in me talking. It's just a beautifully constructed trailer. Utterly beautiful.

i love the music in this, it really fits with the movie
and the best part that it isnt James Horner's score

Cameron's a good storyteller, but OMG the dialogue he writes can be so atrocious. I was cringing during the entirety of Titanic. And the most famous lines in Terminator are the one-liners. :funny:

No doubt it'll be a visual feast though. That's Cameron's bread and butter.

Yeah but we don't talk about titanic . That's the statistical anomaly in an otherwise excellent career :oldrazz:
Seriously his speeches are written for the actors. Naturally he's gonna give someone like Arnie few lines because aside from the mumbling and the accent , he's more of a physical actor. Linda Hamilton on the other hand is given a hefty piece of the dialogue and handles it quite well.

i didn't like "We're not in Kansas anymore" line. it's so cliche but then again, I can see a guy like that saying it.

But he won all those Oscars for it....:o :funny: And that's what most of the GA has seen in theaters anyway, even if they've heard of Terminator and Aliens.

And I'm not sure when Cameron wrote the script for Terminator, but originally he wanted Arnie to have the Kyle Reese role ( :lmao: ) and OJ Simpson to have the Terminator role. :o Arnie was (rightly) concerned about his accent, which is why he lobbied for the Terminator role instead. Good call there, Arnie. :word:
