Movies, both in the actual creation of these narratives for their creators and we as the audience with our reaction to them, are battered on all sides by various contexts that will always be subjective, from the era they are created in (or are supposed to be about), the economic and social facts on the ground of the culture that produced them, and on and on... In the end, yes, it's all VERY subjective. It is not a mathematics equation. It is in fact, not science with a result that anyone can reproduce given the exact same tools and resources.
