Movies That Aren't Classics,But Should Be.

Ah ok, The BFI list is better though......

But judging by the title I kinda guessed we'd go for world cinema etc, thoughts on non-english language films that you'd consider a classic even if the rest of the world doesn't?

They Live is an underrated classic.

If you like The Matrix, Equilibrium, and such you will love it.

It's got it's share of cheese but it just adds to the insane elements of the story.

What movies that aren't considered classics, but should be? AFI Top 100 Movies of All Time's top 10 list is.
1.Citizen Kane
2.Casablanca
3.The GodFather
4.Gone With The Wind
5.Lawrence Of Arabia
6.The Wizard Of Oz
7.The Graduate
8.On The Waterfront
9.Schindler's List
10.Singin' in the Rain

i've always wondered how exactly you judge an actors ability in movie that is in a language you can't speak. for example Life is Beautiful. i read the subtitles and it was good right, but how do i know that the guy isnt doing a terrible job over acting and emphasing stuff in italian? i guess that might be a bad example cuz it seemed over acting was the point in the character, so how about Pans Labyrinth instead? the acting all seemed fine to me, but if i actually spoke spanish i might have realized that it was actually pretty bad. how do we judge these things?

and im guessing there was some movie with Sidney Poitier before that living dead movie

Umm.. I'd say

1.DareDevil
2.Electra
3.FF4
4.Gigli
5.Land Before Time 8
6.Rugrats Movie
7.(Direct to DVD) Butterfly Effect 2
8.One Night in Paris
9.Herald & Kumar go the White Castle
10.Shazzam!

Just some of the EPIC movies of our time.. lol

Well in these movies, if you can turn off the subtitles and understand everything and still get sucked in just through body language and tone etc, then I'd consider it pretty awesome, for example, I've watched tattoo without subtitles and that was great( i do speak german though, lol?), but Almodovar's films tend to be just as understandable and moving in spanish, obviously you miss out on some of the intricate wordplay, but through tone etc you can get it all and judge the performances.

I had some great foreign films in mind, but I doubt I've seen the best of the best. What ever film I thought of (Stormriders, Casshern, some from Cameroon, China, and India), I ran into two problems:

1) Being more exposed to American films, I could think of an American film that was better, and
2) I cannot remember the name of several awesome international films. I saw it by chance, and never could again.

No underrated about it-Carpenter's old stuff stays w/ you.

My favorite is still-
