Can Pulp Heroes make a comeback at the movies?

OMG love this! https://www.dccomics.com/blog/2018/...ielberg-enters-the-world-of-dc-with-blackhawk
It should probably get it's own thread.

Steven Spielberg to direct "Blackhawks"!
Blackhawk, a just-announced feature film from Spielberg, Amblin Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures based on the classic DC series about a squadron of WWII-era pilots. Blackhawk, which Spielberg is hoping to direct, will be his first featured centered around characters from the DC Universe.

Those who aren't familiar.
It all depends who you 'aim' the film substance at, in that a younger (teens to late 20's audience) these days wouldn't give a flying F about any of the type of heroes these films or stories represent,
Or if these ^ supposed sad horrible people do exist?

Blackhawk Was a comic series first published by Quality Comics
A team of World War II-era pilots of many nationalities.

This is probably the best news for the pulp heroes.
As every studio will now be looking for something from the ere to develop.

Well, not what I was wanting when I said I wanted him to direct a comic book movie, but whatever.

If I were asked what DC property I'd want Spielberg to develop, Blackhawk or Spy-Smasher would have likely been my first choices.
It's pretty much perfect for him, part Indiana Jones, Part Saving Private Ryan, and a huge nod to the serials which inspired Lucas and Spielberg.

Blackhawk jumped to my most anticipated comic book movie.
Plus if DC/WB are looking for a film to build their DCU franchise off of, this will be better then their JLA launch.
If they play it right, they can start over with spinning out of this; the JSA and the All-Stars which were the original comic hero team anyway. ;)
