I'm awesome! What's not to like, really?

Hmm, when I was younger I liked to party, I didn't seek it out much some how I managed to have some wild days and nights. I use to hang with some crazy people, but now I just want to chill. I know the people I use to party with are still running wild and some have kids, that would be the men.The women folk tend to be the ones left to tend the chillin's. I only know one female that hasn't changed much since HS and I believe she's lonelier than she'll admit. I like living alone but I think I'm ready to open up to have "my boo" crash with me. Never thought I'd see the day, but there ya have it.

I like being by myself when I need to be myself, or when I just need to relax without any strings attached. When I get back to my dorm after work, or after class, I prefer at least an hour of free time. When I need to work on a paper or something else, I prefer to be alone. But being alone eventually gets old for me, so I don't mind being around people as long as it is on my terms.

I don't like going out alone, though, unless I am going to the store or something similar.

I currently live on my own, and I'm fine with it. It's not like I'm a shut-in. I spend most of my time at work, and my family and friends live within minutes, so I feel like I'm rarely home anyway. Most of my friends have small kids, and they're always telling me how jealous they are that I can just go home and watch TV after work.

The bad part to that is once your friends start having kids, you can't really hang out with your friends the way you used to. But it doesn't slow me down, if I really want to see a movie and none of them are available I just go on my own after work.

I was in California this summer with my dad, and while he was in meetings all day I went by myself to Disneyland. We'd been there over the weekend, but there were a ton of rides he wouldn't go on, so I spent the day catching up to those rides. I went on Space Mountain 7 times and got my picture with Mickey and Minnie. It was a blast.

Anywho I like being by myself. I feel it's so relaxing. I could spend up to 3-5 days by myself without any contact from anyone. When I'm around people there is only so much I can take from people.

I love my time with me. Not more than I love my time with people whose company I enjoy very much though. There are times when I prefer being with people and there are times when I prefer being alone. However, I do dislike the idea of living in a home that is isolated, where the closest neighbor is like a mile away. At the same time, I do dislike big crowds. Can I be alone 24/7/365? I doubt it. I love myself but I know I can drive myself nuts.

I used to think that I strongly hated other people and would prefer the company of myself. Over time, I've realised that was just an image of myself I was trying to cultivate.

And now I kinda realise it's totally not me.
People are in fact the only thing that matters to me.
Movies, music, etc. are auxiliary to this love. They are not, like I might've at one time argued, PREdominANT loves.

I am happiest in the company of people. I am least happy alone. And slowly this has dawned on me and although I still occasionally enjoy quiet moments of solitary freedoms, I will always take a good chat or a walk with someone else...
...or running drunk up and down the staircases at rez
...or going to see "The Godfather" with friends on a big screen at the AMC
...or debating politics
...or pretty much any activity you can share with somebody else

Sometimes if I've had a long day, I just need to chill and watch a movie or read or something. But I generally can't stand being by myself for long periods of time. I just get really anxious like I'm missing out on something that's potentially awesome...especially on weekends. I was stuck at home this weekend working on a paper and a script and I almost went nuts.

I've been myself since I was 15. It just hit me like a ton of bricks on the last day of school that year. I was never going to see those people again, and what they thought did not matter. I had spent two and half years at that school trying to fit in, and failing miserably. I was the typical shy geeky kid obsessed with comic books and video games. I was teased and harassed on a regular basis. I had things stolen from me, and gum thrown in my hair. Being myself didn't make me any more popular, but at least I was happy with who I was.

I work better alone, and I am happy having quiet time alone. I have one close friend, and that's it.

Its interesting when I was studying abroad in England for a semester, our dormitories were singles so you didn't share it with anyone, but there was a common room with a TV and comfortable chairs. I don't like the confines of my room sometimes, I'd go down there and just sit and relax. It wasn't like I was being anti-social either because when people would walk by, they'd sit down and we chat for a little bit. But the other Americans found it strange as **** to just sit alone in the common room, just doing some writing or something... The british had no problem with it though

We seem to be like that. We have to be social at all times or there is something wrong with us. I keep trying to tell my family and co-workers that I dont mind being alone (and in fact enjoy it) but they dont believe me.
