I think we, as a country, have reached our "spoiled *****y teenage girl with a baby and a reality show" quota.

While I am excited about this...

General Hospital moves to 2pm eastern beginning September 10th, celebrates it's 50th b-day April 1st 2013.

I do wonder if 'something' will takes it's place next year...rumors, rumors, ABC may be throwing us fans a bone. The 'Ok, we let GH see it's 50th B-day, now it's canceled'. In any case, the chew will be a better lead at 1pm and for nine weeks, there's Good Afternoon America aka, the show in a test run that may comeback next year...at 2pm..

When the daytime soaps are gone, scripted tv on networks are on "borrowed time"...maybe I dunno, my magic 8 ball is lousy.

First they came for the daytime soaps, and I didn't say anything because I wasn't a soaps fan...

Deadline:
Erinn Hayes Lands Regular Role On New NBC Comedy Series ‘Guys With Kids’
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

Erinn Hayes (Childrens Hospital) has been cast as a regular in the upcoming NBC comedy series Guys With Kids. On the multi-camera comedy executive produced by Jimmy Fallon, she will play the role of Sheila, which has been recast. It was played in the pilot as guest star by Sara Rue whose pilot, ABC’s comedy Malibu Country, went to series, making her unavailable. Guys With Kids is about three thirty-something dads, Chris (Jesse Bradford), Nick (Zach Cregger) and Gary (Anthony Anderson), trying to hold on to their youth. Hayes’ Sheila is Chris’ ex-wife, a type A attorney. On the feature side, Hayes, repped by Innovative Artists and Sweeney Entertainment, just booked a supporting role in Lionsgate’s They Came Together and had her indie It’s A Disaster premiere at the LA Film Festival.

Oh, Erinn Hayes... sweet, beautiful Erinn Hayes. You deserve better than Guys With Kids. :csad:

Just finished reading Top of the Rock: The Rise and Fall of Must See TV by the former head of NBC during most of the 1990s, Warren Littlefield.

The cast, producers and writers of shows from Seinfeld, Friends, ER, Frasier, Will & Grace, The Cosby Show, Cheers and more along with former NBC execs talk about how each show was developed and some interesting stories during the run of each show.

It is one sided, it isn't as balanced as something Bill Carter has done, but that's okay this is his book he can do whatever he wants.

Highly recommend it for anyone who loved NBC programs from Cheers to Will & Grace. Some of the stories you may already know about, like how Seinfeld got started but it gave great insight in how another half dozen shows came about. After reading it makes Zucker look like an even bigger **** up who sent NBC from 1st to 4th.

From 'Dancing' to 'Nashville,' ABC sets Fall 2012 premiere dates

ABC has become the last of the five networks to announce its 2012-2013 fall premiere dates, finally setting a roll-out schedule that runs from September 14 to November 2.

Highlights of the ABC schedule include the expected time period swap of "The Neighbors" and "Suburgatory," plus delayed premiere dates for the buzzed about drama "Nashville" and the Tuesday comedy block of "Happy Endings" and "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23."

ABC is going to kick things off early with the Friday premieres of "Shark Tank," "What Would You Do?" and "20/20" on September 14. As ABC announced at upfronts, "Shark Tank" will shift to 9 p.m. starting on Friday, November 2, which will also be premiere night for the 8 p.m. comedy block of "Last Man Standing" and "Malibu Country."

Most of ABC's premieres will take place during the Nielsen-recommended Premiere Week starting on Monday, September 24 with "Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars" and the return of "Castle."

The following night, "Dancing with the Stars" will get a two-hour results show, leading into the return of "Private Practice." "Happy Endings" and "Don't Trust the B----" won't move into the Tuesday 9 p.m. hour until October 23.

On Wednesday, September 26, "The Middle" will have an hour-long premiere, followed by "Modern Family" (assuming the "Modern Family" cast actually shoots episodes) and a sampling premiere for the new comedy "The Neighbors." Interesting, while "The Neighbors" will move into its new 8:30 slot on October 3, "Suburgatory" won't have its post-"Modern Family" premiere until Wednesday, October 17. "Nashville" won't kick off its 10 p.m. Wednesday run until October 10.

Thursday, September 27 will be premiere night for "Last Resort," "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal."

And Sunday, September 30 will bring "Once Upon a Time" back for its second season, followed by the time slot premiere of "Revenge" and the series premiere of "666 Park Avenue." "America's Funniest Home Videos" will be back on Sunday, October 7.

Don't like the long wait for Happy Endings but I'll enjoy the disaster that will occur when "The Neighbors" premieres. Why not just bring back the Geico Cavemen TV series ABC?

I don't like that they put Happy Endings in the same timeslot as New Girl. :csad:

But, yeah, The Neighbors looks like an immediate fail.

Yeah even with the month difference, New Girl will be off a couple of weeks because of baseball on Fox. New Girl will also air 2 episodes when it premieres, a special time to start the evening and then their regular slot.

Sep.11 - Go On / The New Normal
Sep.25 - Dancing With The Stars: All Stars Results Show (until Oct.16)
Sep.25 - NCIS:LA
Sep.25 - New Girl / The Mindy Project
Oct.16 - Emily Owen, M.D.
Oct.24 - Happy Endings / Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23

The Los Angeles Times was tipped off by a source who informed the paper that The CW is having discussions with the Hollywood rights holders of Battle Royale to potentially turn the property into a television series.

The cult classic that - for quite some time - was considered as something that was never going to be released on U.S. soil. Then, Anchor Bay released an awesome DVD/Blu-ray collection earlier this year - just in time for the debut of The Hunger Games, too (which you could arguably say was inspired by Koushun Takami's novel and the screen adaptation that followed).

A U.S. remake was being kicked around by Neal Moritz and Roy Lee, but the project stalled.

The L.A. Times' piece says The CW's talks are preliminary and there is no deal in place. Apparently, Takami needs to have a say on the matter as well.

Do to want see some school kids kill each other on the small screen? Naturally, the violence will be significantly neutered...

I don't really see this ever coming to fruition.

AMC is developing an Area 51 TV series based on a new book.

Good after ‘Bad’

If you are thinking that Armageddon can’t come fast enough now that AMC’s “Breaking Bad” and “Mad Men” are nearing their ends, put away the survival gear.

There is something to live for, after all.

AMC just closed a deal this week to begin creating a new scripted series, “Area 51,” based on the best-selling book of the same title by Annie Jacobsen, The Post has learned.

Already aboard the “Area 51” spacecraft project are Gale Anne Hurd (“The Walking Dead”) as executive producer, Todd E. Kessler (“The Unit,” “The Good Wife,” “Rome),” as writer and Jacobsen as a co-producer.

In case you don’t know what Area 51 is, then clearly you haven’t been abducted by aliens (the space kind, not the border-crossing kind) since that crash in Roswell, NM, 65 years ago.

Area 51 is a remote, secretive, high-security portion of Edwards Air Force Base in Nevada — where, rumor has it, the military keeps living and/or dead alien creatures, as well as pieces of a flying saucer recovered from a crash site in nearby Roswell in 1947.

Government officials maintain (wink, wink) that Area 51 is merely a testing site where experimental aircraft and weapons systems are developed.

Yesterday Joel Stillerman, head of original programming at AMC, said he thinks that the “Area 51” series will adhere more closely to Jacobsen’s non-fiction book than sci-fi. That means less “ET” and more CIA.

“Gale brought us the book and loved the way it presented an oral history of the place. She has this whole technology/futuristic thing going on.”

The 1950s/’60’s-era series will focus on the workers in Area 51 who protect America’s deepest, darkest secrets — including the remains of the “alien” crash at Roswell — and how they become infected with Cold War paranoia.

I’m thinking military Don Draper.

Jacobsen maintains in her book that the aliens found at the Roswell crash site weren’t from another planet but were the horrible results of American experiments on human beings .

She believes the crash signalled not an alien invasion but the start of the Cold War.

Pilots are already being shot for "Low Winter Sun,” a murder mystery involving cops and criminals, starring James Ransone and Mark Strong (who starred in the UK version), and an as-yet-untitled legal thriller about morals, ethics, politicians and lawyers. Talk about oxymorons all in a row.

Can these shows ever replace “Mad Men” and “Breaking Bad?”

The evil geniuses at AMC were clever enough to scoop up “Mad Men” after HBO turned it down, “Breaking Bad” after FX rejected it, and “ The Walking Dead” after NBC nixed it. Believe it.

AMC Developing 'Area 51' Drama With 'Walking Dead' EP

The network, looking to beef up its development with "Breaking Bad" and "Mad Men's" end in sight, has added Annie Jacobsen's book to its development pipeline.

AMC is heading to Area 51.

The cable network home to zombies is looking to add some extraterrestrials to its roster, putting author Annie Jacobsen's best-seller Area 51 in its development pipeline, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Published in May, Jacobsen's book revolves around the famed military installation in the world that has never been acknowledged by the U.S. government and explores the myths about the area and those who believe that region is home to aliens, underground tunnel systems and nuclear facilities. Jacobsen interviewed 19 men who served on the base and additional servicemen who were employed there.

Walking Dead executive producer Gale Anne Hurd is on board to executive produce with Todd E. Kessler (The Good Wife) attached to pen the script; Jacobsen will serve as a co-producer on the effort, which is in development.

AMC's entry will take place in the 1950s-1960s and will focus on those who work at the base and protect the country's secrets -- including the remains of the alleged alien crash at Roswell.

The Area 51 entry joins the network's other development properties which also include Thief of Thieves, an adaptation of The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman's latest comic. Other entries include football drama The Real All Americans, a potential Goodfellas series and a diamond drama from Ridley and Tony Scott, among others.

The network in May gave pilot orders to two scripted dramas -- Low Winter Sun and an untitled Richard LaGravenese and Tony Goldwyn entry.

AMC, which canceled The Killing after two seasons on Friday, is nearing the end of two of its prized franchises with the conclusion in sight for both Breaking Bad and, after two more seasons, critical darling Mad Men.

Their reality shows have been mixed with two ratings success Talking Dead and Comic Book Men, one bomb in The Pitch and nothing special with Small Town Security so it is great to see AMC is focusing on dramas this year. Their development slate looks great but they like to take their time with their shows.

I can not STAND Comic Book Men

it does nothing to show people that we aren't a bunch of anti social ******s

I gave that show 5 minutes. Once I realized how fake it was, I was done with it.

I knew before it even aired that it would be fake. After all, people basically referred to it as "Pawn Stars for comic nerds".

Ha! That's exactly what I call it.

Animal Practice looks ******ed.

Just part of NBC's attempt to go broad.

30 Rock is ending, Community is essentially done, The Office has shriveled up and Parks and Recreation will likely be kept for another year or two if we're lucky. The Dwight Schrute spinoff will likely last six episodes.

They're still trying out single camera comedies because Modern Family does so well but they're not going to be like the comedies they've done in the previous seasons. Unfortunately they just didn't appeal to Nielsen viewers to watch it live.
