I really think the Animal Practice hate is a "mountain out of a mole hill" situation. It really doesn't look that bad. I mean, Christ, you guys make it sound Whitney bad. :o

And before anyone makes a smartass comeback, I'm sure that monkey is more talented than most of Whitney's cast.

:csad: why NICK?

Hollywood Heights canceled by Nick at Nite, moved to sister channel TeenNick to finish off run at 8pm weeknights.

At least it finishes it's run. Still not officially canceled...but with the exec producer and head writer leaving to go to CBS Soap Young and the Restless, and now this movie...goner. All 80 episodes have been filmed, and given it being a telenova, 80th should be a series finale anyway...

Because it was terrible?

never heard of it.

But, of course, Nick at Nite hasn't been relative in at least a decade.

Animal Practice had their preview tonight. It was okay as it had some funny moments. It wasn't awful.

I see commercials for Hollywood Heights with Friends reruns. Super ****ty production values. James Franco guest starred on it, apparently. As soon as I saw him pop up on one of the ads, I was like "What the hell is this guy trying to prove?"

Don't knock it til you've seen it. Show is good. It also has actual outside scenes. Nick at Nite didn't know how to promote it was all. Maybe next time they have a telenova on they will do more promotion before it airs.

 seriously, the official site for it didn't launch til a few weeks before it debut. Same with its Facebook. And the production values are not super ******. I like them...of course, I like things that look cheap, like the CGI in A Sound of Thunder sooooooo....and SyFy Channel movies...

Wow. There are ratings low enough to be cancelled on Nick at Nite?

Only doing 570,000 per episode on average. It's low has been in the 300K, it's high in the 900K. Last two weeks it's been going up a bit. Oh well...sooner or later a English telenova is gonna do good. I feel we need to stop remaking Spanish/Mexican ones though...I believe the MyNetworkTV ones from 06-07 were English versions of Mexican telenovas...and Hollywood Heights is a English remake of a 90's Mexican telenova. Maybe, I, oh I dunno...bring back AMC and OLTL...and have them be seasonal soaps/telenovas?

In any case, Hollywood Heights has another 40 episodes to air...

Another brilliant move by NBC, cutting away from the Closing Ceremonies and keeping them wait to see The Who perform. Likely upsetting millions of people who will now boycott Animal Practice.

I also liked how NBC kept revealing the surprises before they happened.

"And the would be human cannonball is none other than...Eric Idle"

BEFORE ERIC IDLE EVEN APPEARS

I'm very glad I watched the streaming. Not only was it live, but no commentators and no commercials. The only thing NBC got right was streaming every event live.

Deadline:
NBC Developing Super Villain Drama From Alexandra Cunningham And Film 44
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

EXCLUSIVE: NBC has put in development Hench, a high-concept drama from Peter Berg and Sarah Aubrey’s Film 44 and Universal TV. Written by Alexandra Cunningham, Hench centers on a regular guy who, in order to support his family, gets jobs temping for super villains. Cunningham, Berg and Aubrey executive produce.

This marks a reunion of the creative team behind NBC’s drama Prime Suspect. NBC had tried to develop an U.S. version of the iconic British series with another writer-producer, but it was the version written by TV writer/playwright Cunningham and produced by Film 44 that got to a pilot stage and attracted Maria Bello as the lead. The pilot went to series, which was well received and, despite its struggle to attract a wide audience, was a favorite of NBC brass who re-upped Cunningham and Film 44′s overall deals in March. In addition to its collaboration with Cunningham, Film 44 has an U.S. version of the Israeli drama M.I.C.E. in development at NBC for next season. Before moving to Universal TV in 2010, WME-repped Cunningham was a key writer-producer on the first six seasons of ABC’s Desperate Housewives.

Deadline:
NBC Buys New Orleans Gothic Thriller From ‘Ringer’ Creators & Producer Peter Traugott
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

NBC has made a script deal for a drama project from Ringer creators Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder and producer Peter Traugott. The project, from Universal TV, is described as a sexy Southern Gothic thriller set in New Orleans– rich with tradition, superstition… and murder. Charmelo and Snyder will write and will executive produce alongside Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan through their Uni TV-based production company TBD Prods. Charmelo and Snyder, repped by UTA and the Shuman Co. and attorney Jamie Mandelbaum, are currently co-executive producers on David Schulner’s midseason NBC drama Do No Harm, also produced by Uni TV and TBD Prods.

Deadline:
Jodie Foster To Direct & Produce Female-Centered Mob Drama Project For Showtime
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

EXCLUSIVE: In her first major behind-the-camera foray into television, Jodie Foster is set to direct and executive produce Angie’s Body, a drama project set at Showtime and produced by Sony Pictures TV. Written by Rob Fresco (Heroes, Jericho), Angie’s Body centers around a shrewd, sexy and, when necessary, lethal woman who runs a family-based crime syndicate. Foster and Fresco will executive produce the project with Sony TV-based Russ Krasnoff.

Foster has been focused on directing for the past few years. While at Comic-Con promoting her latest acting vehicle, Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium, Foster indicated that she was eyeing a move into cable TV. This marks the first TV directing/producing gig for Foster who helmed an episode of the 1980s syndicated anthology series Tales From the Darkside before segueing to movie directing with Little Man Tate, Home For The Holidays and Beaver. Angie’s Body reunites Foster with Showtime where she executive produced the 1998 telefilm The Baby Dance in her only previous TV producing stint. Fresco, who serves as a co-executive producer on Fox’s Touch, is repped by UTA, which also repped Foster in the deal, having signed the Oscar winner for directing in March.

The New Orleans st thriller show sounds promising.

I approve of the new title. :awesome:

Today's news about the forthcoming merger of Miley Cyrus and Two and a Half Men has filled me with wrath. :o:up:

I doubt I'll ever watch Animal Practice but I kinda hope it's successful because Justin Kirk is awesome.

Animal Practice wasn't overly hilarious, but it wasn't terrible either. Though, honestly, if there's one thing I've learned in recent years, it's that most NBC comedies I come to love begin fairly lamely... Parks and Rec, Community, The Office.... formerly loved, in The Office's case. That show is dead to me now. It died the second Michael Scott stepped on that plane.

I honestly didn't laugh during Animal Practice. Plus I was pissed that they showed that instead of more of the closing ceremonies. I hope that show is the first to get cancelled. :cmad:

Oh you and your irrational rage. :o

It's not irrational. I did see the preview. I didn't like it.

Yeah, but it wasn't "First to get cancelled" bad.

Lennie James Joins AMC's Low Winter Sun pilot.
That makes his 3rd AMC show after The Prisoner mini-series and The Walking Dead pilot.

I'm liking this pilot more and more with the talent they're attracting. Hopefully this joins Mad Men or Breaking Bad next year.
