The ABC miniseries "The Assets" got cancelled after two episodes. I came to see if anyone watching it was upset, but I couldn't even find a thread about it. So I guess not.

Saw promos for it and that's about it. Recognized the blond woman from Attack the Block.

It's not so much that I like it, as much as The Shape hasn't earned the right to ***** about it. I've dealt with years of The Big Bang Theory being the #1 comedy on TV, nerds acting like it's an accurate representation of us, and "Bazinga bazinga bazinga". Intelligence is one episode deep, dammit, get over it!

It's not so much that I like it, as much as The Shape hasn't earned the right to ***** about it. I've dealt with years of The Big Bang Theory being the #1 comedy on TV, nerds acting like it's an accurate representation of us, and "Bazinga bazinga bazinga". Intelligence is one episode deep, dammit, get over it!

Yeah, but The Big Bang Theory, whether you like it or not, is simply a sitcom...which is the definition of a formulaic show. It's expected to be that way. Even Seinfeld, as genius as it was, followed basically the same formula. At least some credit has to be given to Big Bang for focusing on a different faction of human beings (comic book nerds living across from a hot girl) than the average sitcom. It's still the best out of the CBS lineup of ridiculously awful sitcoms.

The reason Intelligence irked me is because how many more procedural dramas featuring an unlikely pair of investigators can we see on TV right now? The show is an amalgamation of several known cop show gimmicks, and that much should be obvious to anyone. Unpredictable Cop/investigator with a unique skill paired with a female cop/investigator (Mentalist, Elementary), special gimmick for crime-solving (Numbers, Person of Interest). Almost Human has a similar premise, featuring a robot cop partner who can essentially do all the things Holloway's guy can do and more, but at least Almost Human offers visuals and action unlike anything on TV at the moment. There are plenty of other gimmicky cop shows that can be used as examples, I just don't care to dig deeper into my brain for them.

And to be fair, I wasn't *****ing about anything. I just said I'd be down for it to be cancelled because it looks lame and like the same kind of thing I've seen on TV before...which is true. However, I'm sure the average American TV viewer will eat this show up and it will find an audience and run for 15 seasons...

Bottom line is I'm allowed to feel a show looks stupid a doesn't offer much at all towards the overall landscape of television...just as someone's allowed to whine about The Big Bang Theory and having to "deal" with it being the #1 show on TV.

We're all allowed to feel that way, yay!

Procedural partnership shows work, that's why they make them. Most people use TV as a medium to relax to after work, and seeing two characters with chemistry solving cases works for a lot of people, the key is how well you execute it.

Intelligence is one episode in and it's an episode you didn't even watch so wanting it canceled just seems weird to me as you judged a book by it's cover, and given it's ratings success you may be wanting for a long time yet.

I haven't seen Intelligence yet, but I do agree that there are waaay too many crime-solving shows. Is not that most of them are bad, in fact some of them are quite good and special (Person of Interest comes to mind) but you can tell it's getting crowded.
The thing is, that type of show could go on for seasons and seasons, which is probably what they all want.

I keep watching Dracula hoping it will get better, but it feels like staring at paint and waiting for it to dry. Glee in all of its ridiculousness is more entertaining.

Well it was a bit more entertaining than Killer Women, which was dull as ditchwater. I'll give Intelligence a few more episodes, but I'm quitting with Killer Women already!
