I'm surprised they went this far without changing it.

This won't end well for him. Even more so than for the Duck Dynasty guy. Duck Dynasty is one of those "big in Middle America" shows and (for some ungodly reason) actually has a fan following, not to mention probably next to no gay viewers to begin with. I have to imagine there are a sufficiently larger number of gay viewers for a show like The Bachelor. I mean, I'm not one of them, but I have to imagine they're there...

His apology reeks of BS too.

:funny:

Yeah, no one participating in that show should be using any sort of moral high-ground bull****.

The only one I know of is the couple from the very first Bachelorette. Which basically says to me that it was genuine once upon a time, but over the years the producers have figured it's just too much work and decided to interfere/"shake things up" left and right.

Of course he blames his language barrier on his wording, didnt see that one coming from miles away.

Of course he blames his language barrier on his wording, didnt see that one coming from miles away.

And this tweet perfectly sums up why that's a bull**** excuse.

In all honesty I wish he didn't backpedal because he does have the right to his own opinion and I have the right to call him a moron for it.

I really don't understand the point of the public apology. 9 times out of 10, it's just a means to save face and calm people down. In actuality, they couldn't care less.

For that same reason, I can't understand why certain organizations/people continue to demand apologies.

Thank goodness for The Crazy Ones and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. That has filled the void for me that was vacated when 30 Rock and the Office left.

Duck Dynasty took a 28% hit in their ratings premiere too and a 33% hit in their key demo 18-49.

And that's even with the ridiculous amount of support that guy got.

NBC Gives Series Orders To ‘Emerald City’ & ‘The Slap’, Pilot Order To Katherine Heigl Drama
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

NBC has given a 10-episode order to Emerald City, an Oz-themed drama from Siberia creator/showrunner Matthew Arnold. Emerald City, which Arnold is writing and executive producing through Universal Television, is described as a modern and dark reimagining of the classic tale of Oz in the vein of Game Of Thrones, drawing upon stories from Baum’s original 14 books that include lethal warriors, competing kingdoms, and the infamous wizard as we’ve never seen him before. A head-strong 20-year-old Dorothy Gale is unwittingly sent on an eye-opening journey that thrusts her into the center of an epic and bloody battle for the control of Oz. Following the success of the 1900 The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz, Baum wrote 13 sequel novels. Emerald City reunites Arnold with NBC, which acquired his mystery drama series Siberia. It is the one of several Wizard Of Oz in development at various networks and the first to get a green light.

NBC also has greenlighted The Slap, an eight-episode miniseries based on the 2011 Australian short-run series. Brothers & Sisters creator Jon Robin Baitz wrote the adaptation, which is being produced by Universal Television and Australia’s Matchbox Pictures that produced the original. Playwright/screenwriter Baitz and Matchbox’s Tony Ayres will executive produce with Universal TV-based Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald as well as Ted Gold. The Slap is described as a complex family drama that explodes from one small incident where a man slaps another couple’s misbehaving child. This seemingly minor domestic dispute pulls the family apart, begins to expose long-held secrets, and ignites a lawsuit that challenges the core American values of all who are pulled into it. The Australian series, an adaptation of the 2008 best-selling novel by Australian author Christos Tsiolkas, also had a limited 8-episode run on ABC1 and starred Jonathan LaPaglia, brother of Anthony LaPaglia, Melissa George and Hotel Rwanda‘s Sophie Okonedo.

On the pilot front, NBC has greenlighted the drama project starring Grey’s Anatomy alumna Katherine Heigl, now titled State Of Affairs. Joe Carnahan is listed as writer/director/executive producer on the project, with original writer, Alexi Hawley (The Following) as executive producer. Produced by Universal TV, State Of Affairs stars Heigl as a key CIA attaché who counsels the president on high-stakes incidents around the world. She balances her intense political responsibilities with a complicated personal life. Heigl and her mom Nancy Heigl executive produce under their Abishag Prods banner along with Carnahan, Hawley, Robert Simonds, Sophie Watts, Henry Crumpton and Rodney Faraon, who has debriefed several presidents. This is the first TV project to come out of a joint venture between Aardwolf Creative and film producer Simonds. Julia Franz, who works with Simonds, will also exec produce.

Amy Poehler Gets Overall Deal, Pilot Order At NBC For Comedy Starring Natasha Lyonne
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

Parks & Recreation star and Golden Globes co-host Amy Poehler has inked a three-year overall deal with NBC and Universal TV, the studio behind the praised comedy. The first project under the pact is a comedy co-created by Poehler, which has received a pilot green light from NBC. Tentatively titled Old Soul, it stars Natasha Lyonne as a young woman who’s trying to find herself, but in the meantime she’s working as the aide to a group of opinionated elderly people. NBC chairman compared it to Golden Girls. “It’s time to blow up the cliches about old people,” he said. Poehler co-created the project with Jonathan Fener and Josh Bycel, who also have an overall deal at Uni TV. The three executive produce with 3 Arts Dave Becky. At Uni TV, Poehler joins longtime friend and Golden Globes co-host Tina Fey, who also is under an overall producing deal. Fey signed her pact as her show, 30 Rock, was wrapping its run. But Poehler will juggle both as NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt announced this morning that Parks & Recreation will be renewed for a seventh season.

Directed/exec produced by Pam Fryman, the comedy is set at a women’s college that begins accepting men for the first time. Jones, repped by Greene & Associates and Velocity Entertainment, will play Gerald White, one of the four male students at the college — strapping, handsome, corn-fed, incredibly naive, from a town of 300 in Utah and a devoutly Mormon family.

Tyler Ritter To Play The Lead In CBS Comedy Pilot ‘The McCarthys’
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

Fox Makes First Orders Under New Model: “Series Prototype” For ‘Red Band Society’, “Further Investment” For ‘Runner’
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

EXCLUSIVE: Fox chairman Kevin Reilly quickly is putting his money where his mouth is, making his first move since announcing Monday that the network is abandoning the traditional pilot season for a new development approach that focuses on series. That involves making fewer pilots at different times during the year, all geared towards series, or going straight to series on some concepts that had been fully developed with multiple scripts and a bible.

Drama Red Band Society, From Amblin Television and ABC Studios, is getting a firm go on a “series prototype”, a pilot-type production order, plus additional backup scripts. Another drama, Runner (working title), from Sander/Moses Prods., Peter Horton and 20th TV, has received what Fox calls “an off-cycle commitment for further investment towards series production” this summer. That means backup scripts, hiring writers and writing a bible with an eye towards a straight to series pickup. Both projects are adaptation of European formats.

Based on the acclaimed Spanish series Polseres Vermelles by Albert Espinosa, Red Band Society is an unorthodox mix of young soap, comedic one-hour, hospital show, and (surrogate) family drama set at a big-city hospital. The coming-of-age drama, which received a script commitment with penalty in November, explores with dark humor the daily lives of a group of teenagers living in a hospital who become unlikely friends. The depth of the unexpected friendships allows them to survive the challenges of growing up under such intense circumstances. The adaptation was written by Margaret Nagle (Boardwalk Empire) who executive produces with Steven Spielberg, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank and former Endeavor agent-turned-producer Sergio Aguero, who brought the format to WME. Brothers Carlos and Julio Fernandez of the company behind the original series, Filmax, are co-executive producing. Amblin TV first developed an U.S. adaptation of Polseres Vermelles two seasons ago with Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman as writer. Back then, Fox aggressively pursued the project but lost out to ABC in a bidding war. The network remained very high on the property and brought it back this season with Nagle. This marks the sixth project in production for Amblin TV, joining series Falling Skies, The Americans, Under The Dome and the upcoming Extant as well as the TNT drama pilot Public Morals created by and starring Ed Burns.

Runner (aka The End) is to guns what Traffic was to drugs and delves into the traditionally masculine world of arms dealing through the unexpected lens of a woman. Based on the Turkish series Son, it centers on Lauren Marks who, after a simple twist of fate, learns that her husband is not the person she believed him to be. Faced with the harsh reality that her life is forever changed, she goes on a truth-seeking journey that entrenches her in a U.S./Mexican war over weapons and terrorism. Feature writer Michael Cooney (Identity) wrote the script, with Horton directing as well as exec producing alongside Ian Sander and Kim Moses. Horton has another Traffic-esque project in the works, NBC’s pilot Odyssey, while Sander and Moses exec produce upcoming CBS drama series Reckless. This marks the first scripted format set up at a network by American producers to originate from Turkey, tipped as one of the potential new hot format destinations.
Holy ****, Tyler Ritter looks even more like John Ritter than his brother does.

I'm actually interested in the Katherine H. vehicle... the end of times in nigh.

Rashida Jones To Topline Steve Carell’s TBS Comedy Pilot ‘Tribeca’
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

Rashida Jones TBS Tribeca PilotDeparting Parks & Recreation original cast member Rashida Jones has lined up her next series vehicle, signing on to play the lead in TBS‘ single-camera comedy Tribeca, co-created and directed by Steve Carell. Co-written by Carell and his wife, actress Nancy Carell, Tribeca is a satirical look at a police procedural anchored by Angie Tribeca (Jones), an outspoken 10-year veteran of the LAPD’s elite RHCU (Really Heinous Crimes Unit). The project explores an eccentric but brilliant group of people who investigate crime, reveal way too much personal information, and refuse to rest until justice has been served…sort of. A lone wolf, Angie is not thrilled when told she has to work with a partner. The Carells are executive producing the pilot through their Carousel TV, with production tentatively scheduled for February/March. Jones had been in high demand since word leaked in that summer that she would be leaving Parks & Recreation. Jones, repped by UTA and attorney James Adams, had been very busy as a producer via her shingle with Will McCormack Le Train Train. In its first year under a deal at Warner Bros TV, the company has sold six project and recently landed its first pilot order for comedy A to Z at NBC.
Kinda surprised she's jumping into another series so soon. Thought she'd be mostly doing behind the scenes stuff.
