Yeah, but that's kind of the story for all of NBC's Thursday night.

Last season, NBC Thursday Nights was one of my most anticipated nights. It was mainly due to the end of 30 Rock and The Office. I watched every episode of both shows during the last season. 30 Rock had a good final season. The Office had entered the final season with a few very mediocre seasons. I almost gave up on the final season of the Office, but since it was announced as the final season, I decided to ride with it for the full season. I am glad I did that, because the final episode of The Office was excellent.

30 Rock had a great finale too, but for me it wasn't as emotional.

Outside of Parks and Rec and The Michael J Fox Show and Parenthood, that night doesn't interest me anymore.

I honestly have no idea why Lucky 7 was even given a series order. It sounded uninteresting, the trailers/promos for it looked uninteresting and clearly ABC was uninterested in putting any amount of effort into really promoting it. Why pick it up at all? It's like throwing a party, but not putting out any invitations and putting next to no effort into actually making it look like a party.

Hostages not being included there makes me think CBS still intends to go forward as planned, but I imagine if those numbers continue to crumble week to week as they have been so far, it might not be long for this world.

Never heard of a network cancelling new shows one after another without a cancellation from another network in between. ABC made the first cut, now CBS. Next up, FOX (Dads) or NBC (uh... do they have a new series that's struggling? I've only watched the Blacklist and that's a keeper).

If that pattern holds then maybe Hostages might get it's full 15 episode run after all. No 2nd season. That boat has sailed.

Since Hostages is only a 15 episode season, they might be willing to let it play out.

But they'll probably be a hiatus during November sweeps, and they'll rerun a more popular show.

I made the mistake of watching 10 minutes or so of We Are Men the other night. It should have been cancelled earlier to spare me the trauma.

Hostages is pretty good, I think only having 15 eps will be to it's benefit in the long run story-wise, although obviously not for the people getting paid from it.

If that format keeps it on longer, than it's all the better for them.

I think this scenario being an ongoing series for this many episodes is already stretching it and not really sustainable.

Shows like this always suffer from having to fill so many episodes. reducing it to 15 is good.

But how they're supposed to do it season to season without changing the whole case...
