I just can't get over this news though. Even if Guy was doing, like, Community or Parks and Rec or 30 Rock when that was still on, that would seem crazy.

But Sean Saves the World? What is this, I don't even...

He did the b-movie die hard knock off in space, Lock Out....I'd imagine he'll do anything. But a NBC Comedy is a shocker.
"Sean Saves the World" is NBC?

Damn, I thought it was CBS. Seems more their speed/quality

Matthew Perry To Star In, Write & Produce New ‘Odd Couple’ Comedy In Works At CBS
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

EXCLUSIVE: Neil Simon’s classic The Odd Couple is eying a return to television, with Matthew Perry as the star, co-writer and executive producer of a multi-camera comedy project for CBS, which has received a script commitment plus penalty. The new take on two mismatched roommates — the messy Oscar Madison (Perry) and the neat freak Felix Unger — will be co-written by Perry and comedy veteran Danny Jacobson, who previously co-wrote another multi-camera couple comedy with the series’ co-lead: NBC’s Paul Reiser vehicle Mad About You. The Odd Couple hails from CBS TV Studios and two of its top pods, Timberman-Beverly and The Tannenbaum Co. It marks Friends alum Perry’s return to multi-camera comedy filmed in front of a live audience after two single-camera shows — ABC’s Mr. Sunshine, which he also co-created, and NBC’s Go On. Simon’s play The Odd Couple premiered on Broadway in 1965 with Walter Matthau as Oscar and Art Carney as Felix and spawned a successful 1968 movie, in which Matthau reprises his role alongside Jack Lemmon as Felix, and the 1970 ABC/Paramount TV series, in which Oscar was played by Jack Klugman and Felix by Tony Randall. It ran for five seasons.

For Perry, doing The Odd Couple has been a dream 34 years in the making. “Ever since seeing the movie The Odd Couple when I was 10 years old, it has been a dream for me to play Oscar Madison,” he said. “To be given the opportunity to develop a modern version of it for CBS has put a permanent smile across my face. I met up with a wonderful writing partner in Danny Jacobson. We both have such a passion for the source material that we have instantly become obsessed with making this great. Plus, I think it’s time for me to be in front of a live audience again. I miss that. The search for Felix Ungar is on!”

Perry and Jacobson are executive producing the project with Carl Beverly & Sarah Timberman and Eric Tannenbaum & Kim Tannenbaum.

In addition to the hit 1968 movie and the 1970 series, there was an Odd Couple movie sequel starring Matthau and Lemmon; a CBS Odd Couple reunion TV movie; a short-lived The New Odd Couple follow-up ABC series with black leads produced by Garry Marshall; an ABC cartoon; and The Female Odd Couple, a female version of the play by Simon. Perry, who also recently recurred on CBS’ The Good Wife, is repped by CAA, Doug Chapin Management, and Paul Mayersohn; Jacobson is with CAA, Brillstein Entertainment and Mark Temple. Timberman is with CAA and Jeff Finkelstein & Ernie Del; Beverly is with CAA and Bruce Gellman;. The Tannenbaum Co. is with CAA and Jeff Finkelstein & Ernie Del.
Love Perry, not sure about this.

Pretty sure this has come up before

SoapNet and G4 are closing up shop in this month and next month respectively. And the Biography channel is getting rebranded into a a lifestyle channel (because we needed another one of those).

IMO, most of these zombie channels can go away. It pisses me off that I have to pay for them, and never watch them. And they help dilute tv as networks have to put on more crap to fill the extra hours, instead of consolidating their stuff down.

It's a shame about SOAPNet, but with only 4 day time soaps...and ABC-Disney not wanting a SOAP Channel, it had to end.

Ironically, CBS/Lionsgate owned TVGN airs Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful early in the evening and early in the morning. And that is what....channel 3? It's a basic cable channel I think...

I hope Chiller never goes away. But they seem like SyFy light now...they don't air Brimstone or have any cool horror tv ads...

I remember back when Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip came out. I wanted that to be so successful for Perry. Holy s***, time flies.

I find it more surprising he'd risk the show spouting that.

He's been suspended indefinitely from being part of the show.

Wow, the Duck Dynasty guys don't like gays. Gasp. Shock. Seriously, who finds this remotely surprising? :whatever:

As soon as I read it, I thought to myself "Yeah, I'm sure the zero LGBT people that watch Duck Dynasty will be absolutely crestfallen by this."

Still I have to chuckle when I see these types of comments on Deadline...
and I thought the LGBT community was more tolerant?
That’s the so stupid! If it’s personal then it shouldn’t matter to the show. A+E network is prejudice against straight people!!!

They're going to lose more viewers by taking Phil out of the show than they would for what Phil said.

Basically, A&E has employee guidelines, and Phil is an employee. And when he gives interviews, he speaks on behalf of the network.

So it's probably more A&E trying to avoid potential legal issues and lost viewership in all of their other shows.

They're going to lose more viewers by taking Phil out of the show than they would for what Phil said.

If they leave him in the show, then they would be condoning his opinions regarding gays and that will mean more trouble down the road for the network. It's better to kick him out and lose a few redneck viewers than viewers from rest of the country.

TBS To Adapt Hit Online Series ‘Jake & Amir’ As TV Comedy With Ed Helms Producing
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

EXCLUSIVE: Hit online series Jake & Amir is heading to television. TBS has put in development a comedy based on CollegeHumor’s most popular and longest-running series by comedy duo Amir Blumenfeld and Jake Hurwitz. Hurwitz and Blumenfeld will star the TV project. They will co-write with another scripter duo, Mike Lisbe and Nate Reger, with The Hangover and The Office alum Ed Helms executive producing.

Created by Hurwitz and Blumenfeld, Jake & Amir will revolve around an odd-couple friendship between best friends and co-workers Jake (Hurwitz), the sensible “regular guy”, and Amir (Blumenfeld), the obsessive oddball. Together they must navigate the cubicles of their workplace, stand up to the corporate man and try to function with their dysfunctional co-workers, all while maintaining their shenanigans. CollegeHumor is producing, with the online comedy brand’s Ricky Van Veen and Sam Reich executive producing alongside Hurwitz & Blumenfeld; Lisbe and Reger, who serve as showrunners; and Pacific Electric Picture Co.’s Helms and Mike Falbo. Blumenfeld and Hurwitz originally teamed with CollegeHumor to pitch the Jake & Amir concept to TV networks. TBS, which has been focusing on younger-skewing comedy fare to fit its blockbuster off-network series The Big Bang Theory, bought the project; partnered Blumenfeld and Hurwitz with experienced comedy writers, Lisbe and Reger, who serve as co-executive producers on the network’s Cougar Town; and brought in Helms. This follows the template of TBS’ comedy Sullivan & Son, also exec produced by a well-known actor-producer, Vince Vaughn.

Blumenfeld and Hurwitz have written and starred in more than 600 Jake & Amir videos (two a week for the past five years), which have garnered more than half a billion views to date. In 2010, the show won a Webby Award for best comedy series, with Blumenfeld named best individual performer. The two also have headlined arena college comedy tours. Blumenfeld is with ICM Partners, Principato Young and Gang, Tyre, Ramer & Brown; Hurwitz with ICM Partners, Principato Young and Ginsburg Daniels. In its first TV development season under a first-look deal at Universal TV, Pacific Electric Picture has sold Underdogs to ABC; animated comedy Mystery Island, which has a presentation order at NBC; and an untitled Aisha Muharrar project, also at NBC. This is Lisbe and Reger’s second sale, they also have a comedy spec at CBS through Sony TV and Jamie Tarses. They are repped by ICM Partners, 3 Arts and Jeff Frankel. CollegeHumor, which reaches 15 million people per month , released its first feature film, Coffee Town, in July. Helms is with CAA, Principato Young and Ira Schreck.
I could be on board with this.

The only reason is because she's becoming the head of Yahoo! News.
