NBC Lands Lady Boss Comedy From ‘Bad Teacher’s Hilary Winston With Penalty
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

In a competitive situation, NBC has bought a single-camera comedy from Hilary Winston, writer, executive producer and showrunner of CBS’ midseason comedy series Bad Teacher. Horrible Bosses helmer Seth Gordon is attached to direct the project from Sony TV, where both Winston and Gordon are under overall deals. Written by Winston, the comedy is set in a fratty corporate office that gets polarized along gender lines when a new boss comes to town — a lady boss. It was inspired by “When Your Boss Has a Vagina,” a column Winston wrote last fall for Playboy, where she is a contributing editor. (You can read it here.) Winston and Gordon executive produce. This marks an early sale in what has been a pretty sleepy marketplace. There was a reason for the urgency: Winston left after the last pitch meeting to have a baby. She is repped by UTA, Mosaic and attorney Jared Levine.

They should call it Lady Boss.

Oh please. I'd rather get hooked on heroin than sit through that. :o

If Sawyer got banned. The only way he would be let back in would be if he watched all of The Big Bang Theory

Twice

that's a fate worse than death... he'd rather STAY banned, I'm sure...

Now it's just getting into parody territory. New Orleans is already treading it.

I keep getting them mixed up with NCIS. They're pretty much in the same universe aren't they?

CSI... NCIS... it's that capped letters thing...

Never been established between those two.

Although NCIS and Hawaii 5-0 are in the same universe.

I would've said Chicago but there's like 50 Chicago based shows on tv right now, which kinda erupted from outta nowhere these past couple years.

I think those Transformers movies kinda made that happen...

I thought CSI: Cyber wasn't picked up, thought apparently it was. I'm curious to see if it can make it a full season let alone a second.

Billy Bob Thorton likes Big Bang Theory. The More You Know.

I always had a feeling he was probably not a good person, this just confirms it. :o

If you actually think it would be that important to me to get back here, you're sadly mistaken.
Miami was awesome because of the David Caruso puns.

I'm not sure awesome is the word I would use, but. :o

It didn't. But then they reversed it.

From what I can make out on the schedule, CSI, Cyber, and The Mentalist are sharing the same timeslot. CSI gets the slot in the fall, Cyber in a short mid-season, then Mentalist gets a final short spring season.

What's weird is they didn't have CSI changing slots in the spring, so it might just get a short fall season. Or they're waiting for a new show to fail and will replace it with new CSI episodes.

Michael C. Hall is returning to the small screen.

Nearly a year after the Emmy nominee wrapped Showtime's Dexter after an eight-season run, Hall is set to star in Stanley Kubrick's unproduced drama God Fearing Man, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

God Fearing Man tells the true story of Canadian minister Herbert Emerson Wilson, who went on to become one of the best safecrackers and most successful American bank robbers in the early 20th century. Hall will star as Wilson and executive produce the drama, which was first put into development as a potential series at independent studio Entertainment One in August 2012. The project will be produced as a miniseries, with eOne shopping it to networks.

EOne is producing the drama in association with Philco Films' Steve Lanning (The Secret Garden, The World of Eddie Weary) and Philip Hobbs, who worked with Kubrick for more than 15 years on projects including Full Metal Jacket. Michael Rosenberg and Adam Blumberg will oversee on behalf of the studio. Bill Kelman will executive produce, with eOne handling worldwide rights to the series in all media.

"Kubrick's God Fearing Man presents a larger-than-life story with a complicated protagonist who undergoes a radical transformation. We knew we had to secure a leading man with the immense talent and charisma needed to carry the project, and we were dedicated to putting in the diligent time and effort to find the perfect fit,” said Rosenberg, eOne Television’s exec vp U.S. scripted television. “We cannot be more pleased to have Michael on board, who has time and again demonstrated an uncanny ability to portray captivating characters who must grapple with fundamental internal struggles.”

Hall earned five lead actor in a drama series Emmy nominations for his portrayal of Dexter Morgan, the serial killer with a code on Showtime's Dexter — which he also exec produced — as well as one nomination for his co-starring turn on HBO's Six Feet Under. Since Dexter wrapped last year, Hall has remained busy with indie film Cold in July and Broadway's The Realistic Joneses. He's also attached to adapt Matthew Specktor's American Dream Machine for Showtime with former Dexter showrunner Scott Buck attached.

Meanwhile, Showtime remains mum on a potential Dexter spinoff, which network president David Nevins said would have to involve Hall.

Hall is repped by UTA, Authentic Talent and Peikoff Mahan.
