Cancelled shows of Tomorrow: The War on Chuck Lorre - Part 9

oh right. I watched the first one or two of that. Thought it was pretty good. Just never got around to picking it back op.

Basic cable is slowly but steadily reaching the levels of premium and Netflix as far as content goes. That Blood Drive show on SyFy has been saying the f-word constantly and showing some nipples like nobody's biznatch.

Still shocked that The Magicians used the C-word. And not in the filtered way they use the F-word.

Adult content is a free for all on any almost any network in the UK after 9pm.

I find it odd that some American television that is made for adults and shown after 9pm is still so heavily censored.
The Walking Dead not being allowed to say the F word but allowed to use the S expletive and show so much violent death is just weird.

I have no idea how they are going to remake the Misfits on Freeform without all the R rated content of the original. It will probably going to be very generic.

Yeah, it wasn't until like a few years ago you couldn't really say **** constantly on basic cable. You probably always could but they just didn't for whatever reason.

They technically can but their advertisers are still shy of expletives so they avoid anything that might impact their advertiser profits.

After moving Still Star-Crossed to Saturdays, apparently ABC decided to not air the final 3 episodes.

I don't watch that show but if they were feeling a need to get rid of the character, I think killing her off is the only way to do it. It's like when Patrick Dempsey left Grey's Anatomy. There's no way to sell a character with a spouse and kids no longer being around without either killing them or making them into a deadbeat. Or, like... "They were a witness to a crime and now they're in hiding." Which, truthfully, sounds pretty CBS sitcom-y, but whatever...

This is a terrible decision but then it is also CBS where terrible decisions go to reproduce.

That would be a perfect way to rename Kevin and Lea's characters Doug and Carrie Heffernan.

Law and Order SVU, Grey's Anatomy, TBBT and Supernatural will all still be on the air after a nuclear holocaust.

Fox Nabs ‘Revival’ Comedy Produced By Nahnatchka Khan About ’80s Sitcom Reboot As Put Pilot
Fox has landed Revival, a new comedy executive produced by Fresh Off the Boat creator/showrunner Nahnatchka Khan. The project, which has received a put pilot commitment, will be written by former Son Of Zorn showrunner Sally Bradford McKenna, with Michael Showalter, coming off helming The Big Sick, set to direct.

Turning the sitcom reboot phenomenon on its head, Revival centers on Elliot, formerly the little kid from a beloved ’80s family sitcom and now living a normal life, who reluctantly gets sucked back into the show’s revival with his old TV family.
I'm in.

I need some new types of shows to watch for the 2017-2018 season.

I did a headcount of the 26 shows I have lined up to watch, and 13 of them are superhero shows, 5 are procedurals, 2 are sci-fi, 2 are political dramas with the remaining 4 made up of legal drama, 2 dramas and reality. I notice that none are comedies.

Any recommendations, preferably not of the superhero variety? Maybe something legal or a drama or possibly a sci-fi? Or something that is action that isn't a standard procedural?

as if 26 shows isn't enough and you want even MORE?... :funny: brave heart, you are... seriously, it's been out awhile now, but you can try Netflix's The Handmaid's Tale... it's grim and depressing, but really good...

Well I thought 26 would be enough (I actually added 2 more so it's 28 now :p ). I had about that many from the 2016-2017 season and I still somehow managed to run out over the summer, even though I was only watching one show a night. It did last me longer than just up to May when most shows stop, and I always had stuff to watch when some shows weren't airing that particular week. But somehow it still wasn't enough to last up until all the shows resume in September and I ran out around late June/ early July.

Not all of the 28 shows even begin this year. Some only start sometime next year TBA.

Anyway I'll have a look at The Handmaid's Tale to see if it's of interest.

it's a series by Netflix that HAS been renewed, I believe... boring, it's NOT, even though it might be slow at times... it's just the grim and depressing atmospheric feel of the show that gets to you sometimes...

I read the summary of this show. It doesn't sound very appealing to me. Too dystopian. I'm not sure I really want a grim and depressing show. I tried to rewatch the 70s Incredible Hulk TV series a few years ago but never made it all the way through because it was so dark and depressing with a sense of futility throughout. I think I'd prefer something lighter.
