TV Cancelled shows of Tomorrow: The War on Chuck Lorre - Part 9

General Television
Good God. How many times are they going to deploy the "___ assists the FBI or the cops" premise for a TV series? Now it's a goddamned magician. We've already had a mentalist, a medium, a career criminal, a brainwashed super agent and the f***ing devil.

I like the concept of Deception, hopefully they cast it well.

the only one that grabs me is The Crossing, all the others are meh...

CBS Orders Dan Kopelman Man’s Life Comedy Pilot From Kapital Entertainment
Written by Kopelman, Me, Myself & I examines one man’s life over a 50-year span, somewhat in the vein of Boyhood. The show will focus on three distinct periods in his life: as a 14-year-old in 1991, a 40-year-old in present day and a 65-year-old in 2042. Kopelman executive produces with Kaplan and Dana Honor who also exec produces with him 9J, 9K and 9L, starring Feuerstein.
This could really be something. But knowing CBS's brand of comedy, I'll either love it and it'll scrape by for a season or two, or it'll be their standard s*** and it'll last a decade.

The Middle is one of those shows that's just always there, like King of the Hill.

Zach Braff Comedy ‘Start Up’, Mayor Show From Daveed Diggs Get ABC Pilot Orders
Written by Tarses, Start Up is based on Alex Blumberg’s podcast Start Up. It is a show about all the things that happen — the good, the bad and the ugly — when a guy (Braff) in his mid-30s with a wife and two kids makes the crazy decision to quit his good job and dive into the brave new world of starting a business. (The title of the comedy will likely change as it matches the name of a new Crackle drama series.)
Written and executive produced by Bronson, the untitled City Mayor Project centers on a struggling hip-hop artist who runs for mayor to promote his mixtape – and wins.

Patricia Heaton is kind of an anomaly. She's made a career out of playing the "smart, sensible one" on TV despite being a complete idiot and a nutcase in real life. I guess she's a better actress than I give her credit for.

What an original idea.

‘Dynasty’ Reboot & Berlanti Productions’ ‘Searchers’ Get CW Pilot Orders
Written by Jason Rothenberg, developer, executive producer and showrunner of the CW/WBTV series The 100, Searchers is about a group of unlikely heroes who find themselves on the journey of a lifetime. Ten years after the death of their parents, a pragmatic brother and free-spirited sister are forced to team up when they learn that their mother’s terrifying and bizarre stories may be a road map to discovering the great legends, myths, and unexplainable mysteries of the world. Rothenberg executive produces with Berlanti Prods’ Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.
Legends and myths made me think of Supernatural a bit, but then I remembered that urban legends and so forth have been few and far between since, like, season three.
Co-written by Schwartz & Savage and Patrick, the new Dynasty follows two of America’s wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children. The series will be told primarily through the perspectives of two women at odds: Fallon Carrington, daughter of billionaire Blake Carrington, and her soon-to-be stepmother, Cristal, a Hispanic woman marrying into this WASP family and America’s most powerful class.
Considering it's where he got his start, I say Jack Coleman as Blake Carrington.

Interesting that Chuck Lorre's name is on this thread, I just found out he has a producing credit of another godawful show, the sappy My Two Dads from the 1980's.

Is Superstore any good?
