Canker Sores - Damn You to Hell

Any of you ever get a canker sore? This is the first time I've ever gotten one and I read that they go away after two weeks, so I didn't bother seeing a doctor... only it's been a week and its doubled in size and hurts like a *****.

Have any of you had them before? If so what helped you? (I know what the different treatments are, I'm just wondering which ones worked for you)

Had several. Takes a while for them to go away. If it has doubled in size, that means it's probably at it's peak and will get better. This stuff helps. You should be able to get it or something similar at a drug or retail store. Numbs the pain.

Just got some Orajel - it's unbelievable! It burns for half a second and then it works wonders!! I got some on my lip by accident though... now my lip is frozen.

Um...where exactly is this canker sore and have you gotten it checked out? I ask because...well, you do realize that it is a form of Herpes...right?

Canker sores are really no big deal. I've had several since I was 5. It hurts like hell for a couple weeks then goes away. If the sore is blistering, then its a cold sore, and you might want to get that checked out. Otherwise, Orajel is just find for treatment of the pain.

I don't get lip sores and such, but for canker sores to go away fast, I just simply pour some salt into my palm and lick my finger and apply it to the cankerous spot itself... it's free and actually gets rid of mine in a hurry (even if they're not the tiniest).

I get them after eating on rare occasions.

I have them from time to time aswell. Sometimes they hurt like hell. If I up my dosage on vitamine D they tend to heal faster. I mostly get them when my backpain is returning, which in turn messes up my intestine (or the other way around) and triggers the sores. I also cut back on pork and products with aspartame, which seems to help with my intestine problems.
