I came across the rather hard to find Cannibal Holocaust, which is considered the most disturbing movie of all time (as far as I know). I tried watching it once, but had to turn it off half way through because I was just too disturbed. A friend wanted to see it, but she too didn't want to finish it and I had to turn it off even earlier than I got into it. And she's in the medical field!

This is the kind of movie where the crew had to go to court to prove that people didn't really die in it. It's from 1980.

Even though people didn't die really in it, animals did. And that was hard for me to fathom. I guess I can watch people being stabbed, shot, blown up, blendered, land-mined, artyed, grenaded, flame-throwed...but not eaten. Nor with animals that are alive beforehand. I can tolerate violence easily, but this was too much.

Anybody out there able to finish this?

You know I've heard about this film so many times, but I never had the chance to watch it. Reading it on on Wiki just now though, I'm glad most of it was fake.

I saw screencaps of the movie and it just looked too damn real. :o

I'm very interested in seeing it though, if only to test my tolerance on violence. Nothing so far has really made me uneasy so I'm curious how far this film can take me.

I want to watch it to see how my friend can handle it. He can sit through almost everything really want to see if he can sit through this.

I could never handle it if animals were killed, whether it was for real or fake.

I still haven't worked up the nerve to watch this film....And I don't think I ever will

There's no way I'd even consider watching this.

I've never heard of this movie. But it sounds like something I wouldn't get through anyways. Mainly because of the part of living animals being killed off in it :(

I've been looking for a copy of this movie along with Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma, and Guinea Pig: Flower of Flesh and Blood.

If the animals didn't really die in this movie I could probably get through it but since it's real for some of them I doubt it.

I think when it comes to deaths in movies for me, I have to know that the people and animals don't die for real.

It doesn't really bother me. I just want to see it for myself instead of just reading reviews about it.

Same here. All of these tidbits have made me curious.

I remember mostly that big turtle being cut to piece in a quite gory way, I believe some bird and a tiny monkey also get killed for the movie.
Anyway, you can't miss those moments as some freaky music is playing.

Beyond the gore and shock factor, the film does have an interesting take on savagery and art as it follows a film crew in the jungle that ends up misbehaving much more horribly than the cannibals they're filming. I also believe the main thing is they found what they filmed (while they got killed) and that was years before the Project Blair Witch.

Interesting film, but not for the squeamish, for sure.

I've seen Salo. It's pretty funny when you realize it's just actors. I love it when they have to literally eat ****.

I read abou this movie once on the Internet a couple of years back and I decided to download it from Kazaa. After the downloads (It were 2 movies) were done I watched them and man was it disturbing. I couldn't watch when they cut open the turtle (Which was very bizarre from the inside) and I still get nightmares from the lady who was tied to a pole and got that big ***** like thing with the nails jammed in her vagina by 2 cannibals. And that freakish music that keeps playing. And also someones penis gets cut off. This movie just keeps going and going. I saw it for sale in the Freerecord Shop some time ago, but I didn't want it in my collection. Just see for yourself.

Yeah i saw this flick. Quite gory and messy at times , but overall i found to be okay.

Maybe it's just because i don't have a problem with animal violence ( at least those animals that you normally eat... dogs , horses , cats..i can't watch those being killed) cause of my upbringing.

I know it's strange and maybe a bit traumatic for a child of 5 in america and europe and frankly all different countries to see a chicken being killed , cleaned and then cooked , but hey i g, like millions of other kids grew up with that stuff.

It's really not that bad, much less gore than most asian horrors

Live animals getting killed.
I will never watch this, just out of principle.

Amen to that.

It's been FOREVER since I saw this movie, so I don't remember too much about it. I remember it was nothing but gore and rape scenes. I remember the one girl getting stuffed on a pole as punishment for something, and I remember the turtle scene. It was about some film crew vanishing, then some others went in looking for them or something.

It was very hard to watch as I remember it, but I'd watch it again now that I'm older to see if it still offends me and grosses me out as much. :oldrazz:

What a coincidink,i was just reading about 2 of it's banned stable mates "i Spit on your Grave" and "Last house on the left" i don't really see the appeal in these kinds of films, much like i saw no appeal in the recent Hostel
