The Dark Knight Capes and Cowls - New Batsuit Discussion Thread

Wow, Batman needs armor. Never even thought of it, I figured he was just invulnerable like Superman.

Jesus, of course Batman has armor. In the movies, in the comics, in the cartoons. Everywhere. Everyone's point is that in the movies, the actor doesn't need thick rubber crap glued on his body to restrict movement, it could be a flexible cloth-*type* material with a nice texture combined with strategically placed pieces of a muscle-suit to give him some definition. You know, like they did in Superman Returns. Fox can just whip that **** up and say "Here, that's armor. You're bulletproof now." and everyone would buy it, because he'd *look* like he has armor on, not just a spandex costume on the actor's naked body, which seems to be the limit to everyone's imagination when people mention cloth and a more comic-accurate costume.

Spandex only looks good in comics for Batman. He is not Superman or Spider-Man, I just don't think it would work. And there have been numerous comics that show Bats does indeed wear armor, but it just looks like spandex because its a COMIC BOOK.

For the love of god, read a post completely through before you quote it.

I never said he should wear spandex, I said that's what most people imagine and can't get past for some unknown reason. *Nobody* wants the Adam West costume. Nobody. They should take the suit from Superman Returns and add more muscle definition - comic accurate and professional.

1) Why so angry? You should change your name to "Rage".
2) Spandex is just as hard to make it work on film as rubber.
3) Nolan didnt make Batman bulletproof, not because his realism would fall apart, but because batman wouldnt need all this theatricality and deception if he was bulletproof. Look at ironman. The dude just took his time while he was fired upon! So its good that he isnt bulletproof if you ask me. As for the aisthetics, its a matter of opinion. And you know what they say about opinions....Everybody has one!

Yeah! It'd look just like Billy Zane in "The Phantom!" We all know how AWESOME that was!!!

No, it'd look just like the suit from Batman '89, except matte and infinitely more mobile.

What? The only difference would be the matte black color/texture.

My point is that with Batman '89 they got the look absolutely right. Batman looked like he stepped off the comic page. Problem was, they didn't have the means to make him move like his comic counterpart in that suit. That problem has been solved by now.

My only problem with the new suit is that the armor pieces shouldn't have been as segmented as much, add the logo on his chest and the textures and it makes the suit look very "busy". I don't think it would be realistic at all to have him running around in a 60's spandex suit, nor should the mouth hole in the mask be bigger, its to protect his face...Batman needs to protect as much of his body as he can, while still having a suit that will allow him to be flexible enough.

Wow what has this thread turned into in the past few hours.....same ol crap!

Hold on there cowboy, first of all, the 89 suit was RUBBER. Not only that, but thick rubber with masculine definition. Second, it was no closer to the comic than any other of the suits. Third, Fox could give him a spandex suit and call it bullet-proof, but the audience isn't ******ed, especially when everyone in the movie has no super-powers and are all human. The reason spandex worked so well in those movies was because Spider-Man wasn't a normal human anymore, as such for the Fantastic Four, and Superman is an alien, so that whole argument goes out the window. Now if Batman was invulnerable, then spandex might be the right idea, but I think people do not realize that its not true realism that Nolan is going for, rather humanism, to show the human side of the Batman universe.

Someone just had to come in and ruin some of the ONLY positivity we've ever had in this thread in ONE DAY we have a pic of bats that makes the new suit look good or to some tolerable, and we got a pic of bale with his shirt off proving hes not scrawny, but pretty damn ripped and only a bit smaller than he was in BB.

I know this was posted in the Bruce Wayne/Bale thread but I just wanted to re-post to show all the haters saying how scrawny Bale is that, he's not scrawny at all whatsoever. He looks to be in perfect shape to me!
I would still like to see him with more muscle mass. Although he does look sufficiently musclular in this image, I really don't think it shows in the new batsuit.

I really feel like crap for all the stuff I said, questioning his dedication and stuff. I didn't know he was still quite muscular, those leaked pics really fooled me.

train us much as he did ...
what do you preefer? a beefcake looking batman or a well trained one?...if he loosed fat he still have muscles....

I know the only thing that looks smaller is his neck, but seriously 1. who cares and 2. that comes with being a bit lighter. Still strong looking just lighter.

yeah i know such people...when i come straight out the gym i still look thin...but when i take my shirt off its all muscles;-) i guess its because of the neck ...a neck like a turtle...but the rest is in shape ...:-)

I'm glad Bale isn't as big as he was in Begins. You can tell his face is much slimmer, which hopefully get rid of the puffy face from Begins. He still has plenty of muscle mass for a man of his stature, and being slimmer, he should be more agile, especially with the new suit.

Agreed.

exactly it was called the puffy...and now hes still in good shape and people still complain but atleast admire that he seems more agile.....i dont know, but hes still is the one who makes it believable that he can pull off being the goddamn batman

Ya I prefer the fit looking build compared to lots of muscle mass.

I love the new suit and glad he looks agile and skinnier than the BB suits.

your talking bout the suit right???? not his body, which should be in the bale physic thread....i know i talk same stuff in here:-(
