Excellent work Lujho, it's what proper Batsuit should look like.

Now you just have to do a full body shot ha ha.

I agree. That manip works quite well. Here is my thought for the suit in the 3rd film. It would look like Lujho's suit design, but with a slight bit more definition under the cloth parts. The rationale could be that it is a warming overlay on top of the existing TDK suit. That is of course if they go with a winter period for the 3rd movie. (which I would love)

God, I would LOVE a winter setting for the third film. Images of Tim Sale's Batman in the snow just come to mind. Nolan & Co. could do something really
great if they choose to add snow to the equation.

That's a good idea, Sheldon, if an explanation is necessary. I think most fans would just be contented to see the TDK suit quietly dropped.

Agreed. The problem, though, is that being on a soundstage Burton was able to fake winter fairly easily--but you can't fake winter in Chicago. Even if they were to film during the winter months, the weather is beyond their control, so a good winter setting would be spectacularly difficult, I imagine.

How difficult would it really be to add snow to a city with CG?

:o
I think now I have to go watch Robocop.

The same level of detail has been perfectly fine for almost every other Superhero film.

To a point. That argument works with the old Superman movies. But the previous Batman, Spider-Man, Superman suits had a lot of "texture" and detail to them. I'm all for minimalism, but there could be a bit more "to" it. But then, it is a quick manipulation, so that's to be expected. I don't think "teching" it up a bit is the answer. Instead, it could look more organic, and have some texture to it.

Maybe some of it is because people genuinely like the direction Nolan has taken with the suit. Yeah, it's techy and busy, but it works for many people who aren't comic extremists and can appreciate different interpretations of the Batman character. It's a fitting representation of the Batman character and works within the realm of Nolan's movie-verse.

Pretty sure I said "to each his own". I thought that covered it. "Fitting" is relative.

Explain how.

"Money can be exchanged for goods and services"

Also, it's not just the legs - you've forgotten the ridiculous man-bra contraption as well.

I hate this outfit. I just hate it. The basic concept is great. The execution is awful.

You said: "It is, but I'd rather watch the movie with a free mind and enjoy what's coming at me instead of focusing on the bottom of the screen everytime Batman's on it to make sure the leg section is not too visible so I won't have to hear the audience complain about how "sectioned and ugly and unpractical and artificial" it looks.

The problem is...the design is so "look at me" that you look at it. In other words, it's not just awful looking, but distracting as well.

Look at the stupid colored "texture" on his abs. What's sad is that that Robocop shot looks less "busy". And now I'm noticing that even his freaking elbows have concentric circles on them.

If the new suit is gray...what did he do, just forget to paint it?

So Batman's gauntlet spikes do officially function as projectiles as seen in the TV spot. Discuss.

I'm more bothered by the fact there are two rows, rather then the idea of them shooting out.

I really don't like it. In the context of a live action film it looks silly.

Explain by what criteria it looks silly. Also, are the similar costumes used in other superhero movies silly? Examples include Daredevil, the X-Men, Spider-Man, and hell, even Harry's Goblin costume in Spider-Man 3.

I love your cowl, lujho, but other than that I really can't see the suit in the context of the Nolan universe. It's a little too "Fantastic 4" for my tastes... but perhaps it's just me. Cool concept, though.

there was no goblin in that costume

Why do you take people that dislike that costume so personal? Not everyone is gonna like it.

I wouldn't mind seeing it with a cape/collar configuration, myself.
Aah...not this **** again!!!! :cmad:

About that last manip: I like it a lot. Just fix the mouth opening a bit. Its way too pointy. It might be drawn from the comics, but it makes the cowl seem like its laughing. Make it more like the begins one with the angle being at the bottom.

Also, seperate the manboobs with a deep cut if possible.

This suit would be even better with the Bat with the Yellow Back-Ground IMO.:brucebat:

Lujho,
I know you have been getting pats on the back for this, but I gotta tell you myself, this is incredible.
Not only is the suit about as perfect of a movie suit as some of us think it could be, the rendering itself is incredible. It looks so real.
Good job, dude.

So the gauntlet scallops are retractable and can be fired.... How lame...
Whats next, retractable shooting bat-ears?
