Bale dosent really look that small to me here from the comcast footage.

I can see comicbook Wayne having a scarred back from his battles, but you'd think movie Wayne's high-tech padded battle suit would keep him from getting cut and bruised like that.

Well, no. I wouldn't think that. Do you actually know how body armour works?

okay just looking at that picture gives me the willies. Even those guys standing behind the railing, screw that. I would be out of there so fast. Bale must have real humongous, heavy balls.

 :batty:
That's why he's anchored. Otherwise the excessive weight of his balls will make him fall facefront easily.
They anchor him even when he's not standing on the ledge of skyscrapers.

Ah, you're being too logical (now you'll be accused of nitpicking and not being happy with what you were given). Oddly... for all the scarring, the one part of his body that isn't covered with armor—his jaw—is unmarked!

Its a friggin movie people.:csad:

looks like he does have a holster for the grapple gun

I think it probably slides out from behind his back when he wants to grab it. It's the only thing that makes sense.

A bit gimmicky/gadgety, but then that's in line with everything else about Batman's stuff in these films.

And it's only a comic book... what's your point?
That things are going to happen that aren't explained or have any sort of logic, because the realm of movie-magic and comic books steps outside such logic, and makes/exceeds whatever "logic" it wants.

So sad, such a simple statement now needs a lengthy answer. Did you really not understand what I was saying, or were you trying to be "Mr. Internet-Baddie"?

Not sure how wise it was to divide the suit up around the crotch, makes it much more prominent.

That would be a good point except for the fact that Nolan has gone out of his way—almost to a fault—to give everything an explanation.

I justed wanted to post this and whine about how:

1) Batman is under so much light. It should be darker. But mostly:
2) Batman is shorter than Gordon and Dent! Even in the puffy Begins suit, he looks small there! I know its down to Bale (Neeson was double his height! My god!) but they could put heels on the suit (to be taken out whenever they would be visible of course) . GODDAMNIT!

In other words, Batman should look otherworldly there, not like a sorry geek in a halloween costume. I know that in the movie he is gonna be kickass but still, he should be more imposing and fearsome. Judging from this pic Dent could kick his ass!

1) That's not necessarily how the shot will look on screen. Calm down.
2) He's standing further from the camera. Seriously. If you saw someone walking towards you on the sidewalk would you be freaking out because they appeared to be growing? Again, calm down.

Here's a better look:

Yeah, and it was earlier speculated that that was a case of the display being set up wrong, since none of the official stills showed it like that.

Guess that's not the case.

Of course good citizen, it's what I'm wearing now as I write this sitting here in my subterranean control center.
Why don't you explain it to me Sir Gallahad. . .

Thats the thing with bat-suits on film, they dont really look good in stills at all, they usually look awkward in the angles they are taken, and you see how ludicrous it is to see a man dressed head to toe in a rubber batsuit. However, see it on the screen, combined with the cape and the voice and the lighting. Its pure money $$$

Can anyone put up a quick cliffs notes of the differences in the suit? Or maybe a side-to-side shot?

You should know that armor like in this film doesn't protect you from everything. Armor does not make people invincible, since it give you less damage compare to not wearing armor. Beside, try wearing the armor on like his & see if you can't get bruises/cuts. I'm sure you will get some. They may not be huge like you need stitches, but you will be showing some. Trust me. ;)

Yeah, but for him to get those kind of cuts and lacerations (they ain't just bruises) the suit would have to be seriously ****ing damaged. As in, parts of it would need total replacement, which would be pretty damn impossible with the one-piece Begins suit.

In real life when armour actually saves you from a shot, it is no longer in a fit state to protect you any more and you replace it, or at least replace the plate that was hit.

And those wounds look like they were made at different times, some are more healed. It's not just from some single event that damaged the Begins armour so that he has to replace it with a new suit.

So, like people have said, it really does make no sense for him to have those kinds of wounds when he's wearing the Begins armour. Bruises and cracked ribs yes, lacerations no - unless he's actually replacing the sull suit after every heavy accident which seems unlikely as it's supposed to be a one-off.

Which is all the more reason for the armour to be piecemeal separate components under an overall unifying outer skin - easy repair, maintenence and replacement of damaged components. While it doesn't have any outer skin, the TDK suit at least makes more sense in this regard - shoulder pad shattered by a bullet? Just replace it.
