The issue with this is that, cartoon network has aired shows that appeal to mostly younger audiences or older.....more niche audiences. Shows such as Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Harvey Birdman have become the staple of Aduklt Swim. And shows like Ben10 have been the mainstay for the daytime programming.
It seems CN has been phasing out anime in many ways. If I were a netwrok producer or had the ability to revive anime on t.v. here in the USA, I would move more anime programs to either SPIKE or Sci-Fi. Spike is a channel tthat has a lot ofpotential but fails in many ways by only trying to appeal to "macho guys". They air shows like Married with Children which is completely irrelevant now a days, when the show jokes about the differences between BetaMax and VHS there is an issue. It is dated. But to spike it's crass and overly macho humor appeals to males 18-35. I disagree. If they aired perhaps more anime in the evening and took off shows like Wildest Police chases and Married with children, that they would have even better ratings. They showed Afro Samurai so that was a step in the right direction. If only they broadened their scopes beyond just lame overly stereotyped machos.
Sci-Fi has the animonday slot for anime but it is limited because it shows 2 episodes of the same show. If they added more shows and did only one episode it would give them more variety. I do know they will be showing the new Gundam 00 here pretty soon. For all we know they may replace CN as the anime access point in the USA.
Either way CN has pushed anime farther and farther off the table in recent years. However they faail to realize that shows like DBZ, Gundam Wing, Outlaw Star, and the Tenchi series (i.e. Tenchi Muyo, Tenchi in Tokyo) helped them get a solid fan base which they are now driving away. Personally if they stopped funding a channel like Boomerang which airs shows aimed at baby boomers originally, they would have more to fund anime programming. Boomerang may show more recent shows like the 90's Batman series and Pokemon, but the bulk of the programming are shows over3-4 decades old. Seems like a waste to me.
All in al the anime community in USA has died down a lot after the boom of the late 90's. I was an avid supporter and still am however companies make it harder when w can't even see it on tv much anymore, and shows like Bakugan and those kidy ones on FOX and CW don't count in my opinion.
