Well I think that if this quasi-sequel thing continues we'll be seeing Jason's development into a superhero of his own :supes: YEAH!

so who should be cast as the Son of supes?

Who else but peter pan, Jeremy Sumpter of course. End of discussion.

:o:up:

You know how many people thought his acting was terrible in that film, alot did!

Really? That's the first I've heard that. I didn't have a problem with his acting... *shrugs*

well continue choosing people to become superboy then.

I really liked that film- cool casting idea.

Won't he be nearing his teen years by the time they ever decide to show him becoming a hero in his own right in the films?

I was gonna suggest Stephen Bender, since he played teenage Clark in SR for all of two minutes.

Of course, that would require the series to jump ahead about 15 years, but y'know what? I'd say go for it.

pointless. Sorry but Superman needs to be fixed first.

Sumpter was good, and i like that version of PP.

but for Sumpter or even Bender to play teen Jason the plot has to be fast forwarded to 18 years.

i'm thinking the gap for SR and the sequel shouldnt be more than 3 years. given how SR ended, the next one should start as close to the first one as possible.

If singer does a next one it'll be all about Jason coping with being the son of superman so I suspect he'll fast forward to an age where Jason can be shown trying to court his own little lois and having parallel problems to his father so maybe he tries to lose his powers in the krypton red sun chamber from superman II, but zod returns and he has to get them back to help his dad defeat him. It'd be great to see superman and jason team up for their battle with zod!1111

Wow, developing that bastard child for a much bigger role...you people must like seeing Superman fail at the box office. :O

heck no. I want the sequel to make a trillion dollars. that's why it's necessary to have two superheros in one movie. TWICE THE ACTION!!!

Weyseed, i think you've eaten too much burgers at White Castle dude ;)

ack. I hate white castle burgers.

Still, tis prudent we prepare for the future. If Superboy Returns an actor will need to be chosen for the part and he'll need a costume too. Speculate! Speculate my brothers and sisters1

PREPARE FOR SUPERBOY RETURNS

If Jason where to come back, the same actor who played him could return.

yeah, he wasn't very good at all, but he had charisma and charm.

Yah.....that "new Thread" button isn't for random ideas about casting. Especially when you are suggesting a role being played but some *****e in a Peter Pan movie. That kid's probably 17 or 18 by now. Routh didn't even pull of 25. How the hell could he be a dad to a 17 year old? That kid in the movie was older than Kate Boswoth's ability menstrate.

*****e? Why do you say that? Always seemed like a normal kid, to me. Let's take a look at reality, people. Singer dropped Superboy on us and he's going to need to be cast with an older actor if that's what the sequel requires.

And Kate bosworth menstrates fine, I guess.

Given SInger's ability to recast characters ( see X2 for that) , i'm all for a teenage jason. As long as he doesn't look too old.
The thing with Routh and Boswourth is that they look very young compared to Christopher Reeve and MArgot Kidder. I could believe those two having a child with the age of Jason in SR.
With SR , it's a stretch since i do know that there are couples who tend to stay young looking for a long time even when they have kids. Other couples grow older a bit.

So that's were the problem lies a bit. They need to make both characters look a bit older IMO. Just cut of the dreamy soft porn filter look that they used for the cinematography and go for wrinkles and stuff. AGE the characters.

And while were at it , why not cast Freddie Highmore who gave a great performance in Charlie and the chocolate factory and Finding Neverland.

Or if they can remove those spots from his face , the kid who played Edmund Pevensie in Narnia , Skandar Keynes

Heck i didn't even know that he bares a good resemblance to routh until i googled that pic .

Here is an idea Jason gets run over by a bus and dies.

That's fine if you want to see Superman go apesh**, vaporize Luthor and half of Metropolis in a blind rage and get put in a pine box by a S.W.A.T. team armed with Kryptonite ammo.

I like the concept of Jason, it's just I don't think Singer, Doughtery, Harris, etc. thought of the long-term ramifications - few writers seem able to make little kids acceptable (or at least minimally-annoying) characters, and if Singer and his minions were to get axed by WB in favor of a sequel by another production team, who's to say the next writer would handle Jason any better?

Singer, Doughtery, and Harris didn't think the kid out. It's the biggest complaint other than the lack of action. Most people don't really care about a Superboy side story. We want Superman smashing villians and saving the day. Not a Superman all torn up inside because he was late picking his kid up because he was saving the world. The kid was a stupid idea for a movie trying to revive a franchise and honestly came across as rather soap opera like. Cheesy and uncalled for, just like Lex Luthor in the film.

It's official, the Superman forums have gone to h@ll. . . .
