I think Patty Duke is a great actress and would
make a fine addition to the Batman Begins cast.
In my opinion, Duke has shown that she is more
than capable enough to play roles which require
a certain degree of fortitude.

I can honestly think of no better woman to
portray Leslie Thompkins.

Can you? :marv:

Someone falls to pieces sleeping all alone
Someone kills the pain
Spinning in the silence
She finally drifts away
Someone gets excited in a chapel yard
And catches a bouquet
Another lays a dozen white roses on a grave

And to be yourself is all that you can do
Be yourself .. is all that you can do

Judi Dench, if she could do an American accent.

Hmm .. Dench comes off a little cold, but I've only seen her perform in a movie or two.

VANESSA REDGRAVE....or....MAGGIE SMITH

I really hope that the character of Dr. Leslie Thompkins is in the sequels.I would really like to see that and she also a very important charcater in the Batman Mythos. Some actresses I believe could play Dr. Leslie Thompkins are Meryl Streep, Helen Mirren, and some of the ones mentioned above Patty Duke, Vannessa Redgrave, or Maggie Smith.

You could be right, but she was the best person I could think of.

I'd like to see Thompkins interact with a young Bruce Wayne (role reprised by Augustus Jeremiah Lewis) in flashback scenes.
For that reason, a very old actress would not be preferable.
Patty Duke is old enough, but not what I would consider an elderly woman. In addition, Duke has previously suffered from mental depression and probably understands pain more than any of the above mentioned
actresses.
Still, Maggie Smith and Vanessa Redgrave are great choices. Redgrave
ages very well, kinda like a female Sean Connery or Anthony Hopkins.

i hope shes in the sequels,i would definatly take my judi :)

My favourite one: Julie Christie

Other choices that i like: Helen Mirren, Judy Dench, Vanessa Reedgrave.

See those photos comparing Julie Christie with Leslie Thompkins:

Not only she has the wise and clever look to look like a doctor, she is enough strong to be bruce wayne's mentor, and enough sense of humour to get a good cheministry with Caine's alfred( in fact, they are great friends in real life.). Also , she is atracctive enough for her age. She is perfect for leslie thompkins.

I thought Ellen Burstyn loked exactly like Leslie in The Fountain. She's pulling a rather odd face in this pic but it's the only one I could find:
