For one thing, you are not getting Daniel Day-Lewis to do a Spider-Man film, mention Spider-Man to him, and he'll laugh it off as a children's film, unfortunately.
Even with Gerald Butler, whom I think would do a pretty damn good job playing Kraven, if the script doesn't read like it's G-rated. I love the intensity from the guy, not the writing of making him yell every other line like he did in 300. But it was that animalistic nature of his being that made people see Kraven in him. Give him some noble dialogue, let him speak two other languages (Russia and Africa) when need be to give him a worldly stature.
But neither of these actors under the current Disney-like conditions that Sony have the Spider-Man movies under, could serve the character well. That goes twice for THE LIZARD.
Don't miss the point about what I want, believe me, if Spider-Man 4 is written with the intelligence, intensity, complexity and even the occasional graphic scene like James Vanderbilt's ZODIAC--mixed with key elements from Kraven's Last Hunt, Butler would nail the living hell out of Kraven. I have no doubt about that. Either way, we are not getting Daniel Day-Lewis or Javier Bardem, unless the script reads like an adult-oriented film and is challenging as hell. What are the chances of that happening?
